I did, and they don't. So yes, it is the map provider in this instance. My AutoRoute 2006 (NT data) has the road, as does Garmin Mapsource CitySelect V7, which is two years old. TomTom can only work with the data they're given. _________________ Tim |

Now THAT'S better. Just out of interest, can you zoom in and check that it's marked with arrows now to show IN and OUT at the roundabout? With the stub road still there and no arrows, when my 700 crosses the roundabout northbound, it says take the FOURTH exit!

Hi, It seems like it does have arrows,

Thank you Tim Spudd.
And thank you Tim Buxton. I shouldn't have made such a sweeping generalisation. However, by the very nature of things, the map provider will always be more up to date than the Satnavs - even if they DID update instantly, they'd be out of date in 24 hours. But it does rather look as though Tim Spudd is the only person in the world with a MORE up to date TT map (promptly ducks before all the other TT One v2/v3 maps same as his jump on my head!!) than everybody else. And in the meantime, TT is telling "everybody else" they've got the most recent maps. Naughty.
So Tim Spudd's is Navteq rather than Teleatlas. Gives TT a bit of leverage being as they use both. I'd hate to think I'll have to buy a new machine to get better maps. _________________ Dennis

Yes, the ONE V3 uses NAVTEQ, as does the RIDER. TomTom may have the option to enable NT maps for their existing devices (or vice versa, whichever way round it works), so start lobbying them now.
In their defence, they have got the latest maps available to them from the relevant supplier. _________________ Tim |

I can't understand this when I am being told about the 5.71 maps on my Classic.
"The maps that you have now are the latest version of the maps that we have"
But clearly there are updated maps being installed on newer units.
Are map releases specific to different models ? |

I say sack the suppler if they can't give us the latest and accurate maps then get rid of them. It seems Garmin and Navtec seem to manage it so why can't tomtom and teleatles !.
And Why should I have to pay for the latest maps when I've only just payed nearly £300 for the Unit we should at least get 12Mnths worth of updates free.
I did have a very thoughtfull think when I was thinking Garmin Nuvi or TomTom and I only chose tomtom because of it's ease of use and customizability. But when it comes to Satnav Maps Garmin have the edge with there Navtec Maps.
Why don't we set up a Petition and get it to TomTom somehow. I'm sure that we can get a fair few people to sign. ! |

PGPSW have TRIED to help with map versions :-
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=45905
But it hasn't been easy without TT co-operation.
Quote: | In their defence, they have got the latest maps available to them from the relevant supplier. | I can go with this Tim, BUT although TT may well HAVE the latest maps from their supplier, they haven't put them out for our Satnavs.
I presume that this Quote: | We do have a map update coming out but it has been delayed a bit. | was sent to mow fairly recently. As the new map update program has been on the TT support webpage since quarter two of 2006, "delayed a bit" really shows they are pretty rubbish about this aspect of support.
Mike37 is spot on Quote: | As an IT worker myself, if our company provided the sort of customer service being supplied by Tom Tom we would have been deserted by now. | Sadly, because we already have invested hard cash in existing hardware, too many of us are still not angry enough (or rich enough) to dump our TT machines and go elsewhere. _________________ Dennis

I bought a Go 510 today for myself (have been using a PDA version for some time):
App 6.520
GPS 1.21, Boot 1.12
Map: GB plus major roads of WE v650.1110
I've updated to the latest software using TomTom HOME, but nothing else. |

mow and Fibre...Why don't you both go back to TT "support", quoting their statement, and ask them the simple question "If 5.71 is the latest version, what exactly is version 6.05?" (and 6.50 and all the other v6 ones for that matter!).
I'm sure you'll get a totally meaningless response, but it would be good to see what gibberish they come up with. |

OK then, mate.... you'd better tell TomTom they are wrong too.
Their own website New Map-shop
constantly refers to "Map of Western Europe v 6.6", "Maps of Western Europe on DVD 2006 v6.6", or even "Map of Australia v6.5"
