If you are referring to the February 2006 Service Pack, that has not changed the number of POI's that you can have active. _________________ Navman ICN 520

So can I ask the question
Why do some 520 take 24 files and some only take 16
Thanks |

As I understand they are all the same,
16 is the limit for the number of "Active" POI files
24 is a limit for the total number installed on the iCN
"Active" in this context means it will beep at you when you get close to it (Speed cams). The other just sit there .
Of couse I may be completely wrong, despite what my wife says I do occationaly admit it :D . |

Yes I think i can see that
But if you download the single files of 24 does that mean that 8 are missing |

One ‘file’ can contain 50 or 100 or more individual points of interest – if we are talking about (say) speed cameras, you would have one file (perhaps folder would be a better description) for GATSO, one for MOBILE, one for SPECS and so on. As Robert says, you can have 16 Active ‘files’ (Folders). What other POI folders have you loaded or are trying to load? _________________ Gee-Pee

Gee Pee
I am told you can download one of the 3 (consolidated)which i have or single file and speed zone 24 .This is the one where I have a problem.
Only 16 out of the 24 are active and I cant understand why .
That is all I have downloaded apart from what comes with the 520
I notice on the forum that some can do it and some cant and I am trying to find out why
Regard

Ahhh Now I understand, Dave! I've had a look at the folder you have downloaded and you are right that there is 24 seperate files. As far as I know, the maximum you can have 'Active' at any one time is, as Roberts says, only 16.
We could be wrong so I suggest you fire off an email to Navman or 'phone them to check the accuracy of that. _________________ Gee-Pee

Gee-Pee,
Have you put the PGPSW cameras onto your N20 or are you using the Navman ones for now? It would be interesting to know how many types you can put onto an N series, especially as p95 of the manual continues the 'maximum of 25' theme. _________________ Tim |

Hi Tim
Only unpacked it last night so still using the installed POIs. Have loaded SmartST Desktop so will only be a matter of time before I get around to installing the PGPSW cameras. Need to print off the full manual first to check out the full specs etc. but that's over 140 pages!
To start with, I do not like the male voice on this machine Must look for an alternative.
Will report in due course _________________ Gee-Pee

PS Tim
Yes, my copy of the Manual says Quote: | A maximum of 25 custom POI files can be saved on your Navman. Each file corresponds to a POI
category; for example, Hotels.csv will be listed in your Navman as the Hotels category. |
I'll just have to try and see what happens. _________________ Gee-Pee

I have also looked at my manual and can put in 25 poi
Perhaps if you have time Tim you could give us a detail way that you put your POI in your Navman so we can try again

First, I download the latest database in the Navman format and unzip it to aknown, not a temp, directory.
Connect device to PC and turn it on, then start Navman Desktop, then start POIEditor. I delete all of the POIs that I'm going to update using Manage POIs, then start from scratch.
I load the files in the order they appear in the directory I've unzipped them to, so I start with Gatso20 and end with Temp. After loading each file into POIEditor, I select the corresponding icon and ensure that the POI is marked as active and warned, with visibility at maximum and distance at 500m.
I rename each file within the POIEditor to a max of eight letters. BEar in mind that the earlier models won't, for some reason, allow the use of 0, so I use O instead. i.e. GATSO2O instead of GATSO20.
As mentioned earlier, I always complete the entire process before doing anything else and I've never knowingly had less than the 24 files I've transferred active on the device. _________________ Tim |
