Is there any way of putting PocketGPS Speed camera database on this device - Just bought it as it looked good for the price but still fiddling. Also Microsoft Acticesyc does not seem to find the device even though the software comes with the device also getting not connected to USB2 warnings when it is and my other devices have no problems.

Me too, same problem with Active Sync. Thougth it is not needed to add files to the device, this can be doen manually.

Not sure on PGPS database tho

For £99 I am very surprised at the quality, there are a few little things I would like to see but alot of that is because i've got a tomtom 500 as so used to a bit more. The following points would be nice to correct if poss:

Easy Custom POI - I can't find any way of adding POI

I think it has full postcode search beacuse you can enter the full postcode but when entered it only shows town that the postcode is under so you can't see whether it has the postcode correct - plus it never askes for number of the street so it's less acurate than the tomtom software.

The Maps even though i'm told there the latest Teleatles map don't seem to be displayed as well as other devices on the screen.

No Blootooth so no Handsfee.

Upadtes of Speed Cams may be limited to using there own datbase and so be be less accurate plus you have to pay £30 a yaer for it.

But as Im say it's got the Garmin Lokk and the GPS seems very good. For £99 you acn't complain and I reckon it could it's well worth the money.

By the Way - does not need Activesync as it is seen as a removable drive - makes it simple to drag and drop.

I saw these in Asda. I expect that the stock is very limited. Oddly there's absolutely no details about this model on the net - not even on the Evesham website.

Could someone give me some details regarding the following?

Does the unit support full 7 digit postcode searching?

Is the support for speed cams good (whatever that means)?

Does anyone have a screen shot of the unit in action?

OH the 7 digit postcode thing, well you can put a postcode into it 7 digits but it gives very little deatil of what the postcode responds to, but it does seem to get an aquirate poition from this you cannot add a number of the house when using this postcode thing but maybe it's not needed.

You will pay at least double for a unit that can compete in my opinion so go for it if this is your budget.

I've rung my local Asda about the offer. They confirmed its £99 for the Evesham Navcam 6200.

Now, good thing I did a Google search and found this thread. Someone mentioned the Garmin I3 at CPW for £99! I gave them a ring and they confirmed this.

This leaves me in a bit of a situation... Do I buy the Garmin I3 as I know what I'm getting as I've already had one and still have a backup of my memory card OR do I buy this one from Asda involving a 80 mile round trip to a store where they have them in stock? I'd be tempted in the Asda deal if someone can confirm that when its in "view" mode that it pops the oncoming street names up like that found on the Garmin I3. This was a handy tool with the I3 and made my life easier being a Cab driver. Also, can someone confirm that the Asda deal comes with an In-Car charger as I've heard rumours these units only have a 3 hour operating time! In a nutshell, do I go for the trusted I3 unit or go for the sat nav unit on the Asda deal?

Sorry about this but I don't want to make any mistakes like I did 2 weeks ago when I swapped my Garmin I3 for an O2 XDA Mini S with CoPilot sat nav software. A good deal I though at the time til I realised the XDA is impossible to use and the Sat Nav software is awful! Anyway, thats another story!

What to do, I ask for your help!!

When in havigation mode you your location at the bottom and where its telling you to go at the top or it might be the other way arround. The Asda deal is a good deal the garmin i3 looks very small but if thats ok then go with what you know. The Evesham has a much bigger screen and for the money it's brilliant. I've gave mine back know so I can only go from memory, it developed a fault and would not load up the satnav part but I would not let that put you off. Remember Asda are very good at taking stuff back expecially within the 16 Day or something period asda said that because it does not allow you to play with the thing instore if you buy it and you don't like it just bring it back and that sounds fair to me!

Read the various comments after purchasing the nav-cam 6200 for my step son and thought I had better try it out. Firstly if you have ever had a Tom Tom or a Garmin you will notice a big difference notably the following:

Its painfully slow to find a gps signal

Out of ten different roads I asked it to take me to around the country, it only found two.

Full post code entry will only get you to the vicinity of a road and you have to type in the name of the road afterwards??

Points of interest are not very good (I asked it to find the nearest theatre in Southend where I live and it said the nearest one was in London).

As other people have suggested it will sometimes only get you roughly in the area you want to go to.

Having said all that, is it worth the money, yes.

I had the Garmin I3 when it first came out so here is where I think it has advantages over the I3 which is in the same price range:

Bigger screen
Touch screen
Comes with some (not all) speed cameras pre loaded
MP3 player (allbeit) not to much space for songs.

Disadvantages over the I3.

Time on battery (you can put fresh batterys in the I3).
Less precise from postcode entry.
20% of minor road, streets, avenues etc just dont exist on the system.
Slower reaction on tracking your position which could tell you to turn after you have missed the turning.

Other negatives:
Expensive to join for camera updates etc.
Run round in circles (curently when trying to get support from the manufacturer.

In short, and at a worse case scenario it will get you to the vicinity of where you want to go but is not as precise as the I3 and any future upgrades may be restricted by its small memory capacity.

Would not recommend it if you drive into London all the time.

DId not have any probs with the active sync but there again I already have this on my laptop.
