TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver Available In Europe

That's great, but what it doesn't show is how it's spliced in to the TMC reciever itself.

I have one of these and as yet not tried a long journey but left Tom Tom on in the car outside for 2 hours and nothing - just has a greyed out circle and says No Info Available - no indication that it is trying to tune in to anything.

What should I be seeing or does this just indicate that there is no reception? (I have updated to latest version for 910 and no difference).

It would be a help to know what to expect as at the moment I havnt a clue!

A grey circle means it recognises the connection to the TMC device but it can't even find a station to lock onto, let alone the correct one (ClassicFM).

Tap the screen then tap on TomTom Traffic. This screen will tell you what, if any, station you are connected to. Try selecting the UK as your country, as opposed to the strongest signal.

Ensure that the TMC module has the cable stretched out, not coiled up.

I took mine in home and dangled the TMC bit out the window, set it to strongest signal and left it. Every now and then it'd then show frequency and RDS name of the station it was glued too but only when in the traffic menu. Even when it did find Classic FM no data was found Sad

(damn this forum needs an edit function..)

Later on he talks about connecting an aerial to a TMC receiver, but it is definately *not* a tomtom one - "Then you simply plug the new cable into the TMC unit, switch on and wait to achieve a signal lock". There's nowhere to plug an external aerial in the TT TMC..

Has anyone ordered one from the TomTom site yet and got i direct?! I know there been alot of arguing about wether or not they are different units or updated ones, but i'm just interested if the TMC units from the tomtom website direct are any better?

Does anyone have one to hand? If so could they measure the wire from jack plug to the TMC unit please. If TT have done their homework it should be around 9ft which will be tuned to around 100MHz...
