TMC and PDAs

Hi All,

Is it me or is TMC a pointless load of carp for sat nav programs that run on PDA's. How on earth do they work?

They work by using a tmc module with your gps unit, I've got Navigon 4 with TMC and Bluetooth unit and it works fine (wired into aerial as well)

Will be getting Navigon 6 soon which will tap into TMC from other broadcasters around the country and will give better performance.

Ah, i didn't realise that some BT gps units come with TMC hardware built in as well. I just did a search for these and they cost about £200 8O

I have an IPAQ PDA with wired GPS receiver running Tomtom V5. All working well. Does anyone know whether this will support TMC if I upgrade my receiver to combined GPS+TMC ?

No it won't work with TomTom at all, the only route you available to use with the PDA is GPRS data supplying the TMC information over the internet which requires subscription to the service - Mike
