hi i bought this reciever around 4 month ago and have not been using it too often. anyway, every time i used it everything was ok but recetly the bluetooth bit of my reicever broke down - this is what i think. i mean sometimes it work and sometimes doesnt or it will work for a while and then stopes. i keep on turning it off and on but it doesnt help anymore. at the moment the bluetooth is dead. holux still detects sattelites cos the orange led flashes but not bluetooh - the blue led. anybody with similar problem and possible solution. maybe i can fix it somehow by opening it but still need some instructions.
i bought if off ebay from a uk seller cos i didnt want to buy from hongkong for many reasons but the seller , when i complain, never gets to me back. ok cheers for any help !

Not a good situation, it sounds like the Bluetooth part has died (there have been quite a number of imported 236 units suffering this way) unfortunatly your problem is with the seller to rectify the goods, so you need to get hold of them.
If your PDA supports a wired serial port connection you could try to get a lead between the GPS and PDA as the 236 can output data using both cabled and Bluethooth (note you will need a special converter lead as the 236 doesn't actually output true RS232 levels). - Mike |

hi, since i am unable to fix my GPS reciever or have it fixed under the worranty i need to purchase a new one. is is a good idea to go for the same reciever or i shell better try something different. i have to admit holux was great up till certin point when the bluetooth bit died. it was quick, small, the battery life was ok. please advice on this issue whether i shell try something new or stick with holux by just buying new unit ???
thanks,

To be honest I like my 236 units but there are other devices as good, some even better when you consider battery life off a single charge, there is the newer Holux 240 but have a look at the Globalsat BT-359 , or for really good battery endurance the I-Blue - they are just a few that spring to mind.
Make sure you purchase from a UK based supplier, that way you have comeback against the seller if it fails - Mike |

Hey Mike, do you have any word on what happened to Holux-UK? People have been saying that they went out of business. _________________ Gone fishing! |
