Can you clarify whether you think this camera should or should not be in the 4.101 download. According to the data I have on my PC, it was in the .csv file I downloaded to make the map with, and its also in the map overlay I created. What do you believe is wrong?

The overlay lists it as Mobile 5701.
The .gdb file lists it as 40-M-5701.
The zoned file lists it as 40-M-5701 |

The "Other / UK Single file with all cameras CSV" file, which I use as the input for my conversion process lists it as MOBILE:5701...
...
-4.97375,51.78497,"MOBILE:5701@40"

No wonder there is so much confusion with the members and the database, when the details vary from download to download!!!!!!
The overlay lists it as Mobile 5701.
The .gdb file lists it as 40-M-5701.
The zoned file lists it as 40-M-5701
The Other / UK Single file lists it as Mobile 5701
The 'half working' Google map on the submission page lists it as MOBILE:5701@40
As I updated this camera in September to 40mph, I know that the detail is correct!
I think you have been given an outdated database!

I wasn't "given" the database - I downloaded it from the website on 3rd October at about 20:15pm. The release.txt file in the download says it is v4.101 and is dated 3rd October. This is all checked carefully before sending the overlay back to PGPSW. So, no, I don't believe I have got an out of date database.
If you look at the .csv file in notepad for example, all the mobile cameras are labelled MOBILE:nnnn@ss (and all the other cameras are labelled in the same style, e.g. GATSO:nnn@ss or REDLIGHT, SPECS or TEMP). They don't use the ss-M-nnnn format you describe, but that doesn't mean the data is incorrect. Its just a nomenclature issue and I could easily believe the camera names might be different according to the format actually downloaded. The basic information is the same though - at these co-ordinates is a mobile camera, number 5701 in the database, and its in a 40mph zone.
Perhaps a PGPSW database wizard could confirm that the data is accurate, but just has a different format for the camera names?

I just downloaded the overlay (to make sure that PGPSW are actually shipping what I sent them) and the overlay lists it as MOBILE:5701@40
So, I say again, it all looks ok to me

Wired,
Thanks for the overlay, I use it on my 2610. I know there is no chace of any audio warning for cameras but is there a possibility of using bigger dots? I use my 2610 on a bike and sometimes don't catch the approaching locations. A bigger (X2 perhaps) dot would really help!
Any advice appreciated.

I think the icon size is fixed by Garmin. Not something that can be changed. |

I think Wired does a great job on the overlay so I am not critizing, but
WIRED uses 'Garmin Navigation Aid' Icons on the overlay.
For some reason the icons for mobile units on the iQue are small green circles with G in them, so can be confused as G for gatso.
see the screenshot for iQue:-
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/walterwright/screens.html
You will notice that other categories are white circles with W in them.
There are bigger icons within Garmin but not 'Garmin Navigation Aid' icons that perhaps could be used as an alternative.
WIRED a suggestion - not criticism :D |

I wish I had a £ for every time I've been asked this. I'd have enough for... well a few beers anyway
It's true, the icon sizes are fixed by Garmin. All I can do is choose which ones to use. I didn't want to use anything which you might expect to find while driving around - it would be quite frustrating driving to a Bank icon only to find it was a speed camera! The Navaids satisfy that criterion at least.
When I started doing this I created a map with all the icons it was possible to display on the 2610. There isn't anything much bigger that is usable. Also, not all the icons are the same on all GPS devices - just to confuse things further.
I'm open to any ideas, but I have addressed this problem before and I still think its as good as its going to get on these platforms.
