One question, do you use the Rikaline driver in TT2 or the Bluetooth one? |

I am using TT2 with my IPaq 5450 and Rikaline X7.
The X7 sometimes connects well to my ipaq and it will hang once i start to plan route on my Tomtom. I try putting the map on my SD card and CF card and it doesnt solve the problem.
The X7 also sometimes just wont connect to the ipaq and it will take a lot of resets and taking out of the battery and putting it back again to be able to connect to the ipaq.
The X7 sometimes connects to the Ipaq and shuts itself down after a short while. The unit also wont work properly with the provided battery. It is more stable using Nokia BLB-2
Can anyone shine some light what is wrong with my unit ? |

Just to rule out non-GPS related issues, what happens if you try to use TomTom Navigator (panning the map, planning routes etc.) without the GPS switched on. Does everything work properly in that case?
Make sure you're using Navigator 2 2.24. Which GPS version are you using?
I'm afraid I have no first-hand experience with the Rikaline - but it seems worth making sure that the problem is with the GPS and not elsewhere in your system.

hi there
My navigator is 2.24. I had just updated the gps driver to v3.02 yesterday. have not had time to try it out yet.
shouldnt be tomtom's problem as it is running smoothly. |

somehow...
from my tests...
i realise that putting load on the TT 2 navigator will then causes the GPS signal to stall ( the dots from satelite to the pocket pc )
mine stalls most of the time when i reroute, plan a route, or even enabling the POI. This sounds like software problem to me.
sometimes, after i had got a 3D fix in the room. Then once i rush out of the house then the GPS stalls and the dots stops.
I tried putting the maps on SD and CF card and theres no improvements.
my TT2 and GPS driver is in my ipaq ROM.
anyone has any idea ?? |

hi there..
these are some of the problems with my unit.i am using ipaq 5450 runnig
wm2003 with TT3 and RIKALINE X7.
1) the connection drops after a while and the blue light will just go
off.
2) the connection will hang after a while or when planning a route or if
i am moving.
3)After the connection dropped, it wouldnt connect again until i remove
the battery and put it in again. Imagine doing that while driving ?
4) Even if it get a fix, the cursor bounces around and sometimes says i
am moving even if i am sitting in the room.
5)The battery life is only 2.5 hours.
6)Bluetooth range is defintely much lesser than 10 meters.
These are a short summary of SOME of the problems that i encountered.
I had even thought it might be the problem of TT2 so I upgraded to TT3
but things are still the same.
AM I THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THESE ??
CAN ANYONE EVERYONE PLEASE SHARE THEIR SUCCESS STORY HERE ?? WITH EVERY DETAIL PLEASE !!!!!!
help will be much appreciated !!! |

Hello , well I can honestly say that in the 7 weeks that I have had my X7 , used with an iPaq 2210 and TT 3.02 , that it all has worked very well , tt3 maps are stored on an A+ 128mb compact flash card and am using NMEA 0813V2 Bluetooth on Bluetooth com 8 . On the VERY odd occaision it might have a little fainting fit , but it is easily retrievable . Only minor problem is if you have less than 5 sats and you take a parallel road it can for a few hundred yards still navigate for your old route ! thats about the worst of it ........

Hi,
I have to say that I have not had any problems with my RikalineGPS 6031-X7 it works just great. The HP iPAQ 4150 is a pain it works some times and then it will not work its Either TTN3 or the iPAQ. Most times I have to have soft reset on the iPaq to get it working. |

isnt it crazy if you have to soft reset everytime it hangs ??
how can you afford to do that if you are driving ??
unless you are in a traffic jam which is what we are trying to avoid.
the performance of X7 is still very unstable and unpredictable.
anyone still have success stories and good configurations settings ??
share with us !! |

Sorry to hear you guys are having so many problems , I'm beginning to wonder just where I've gone right with my setup , I get good connections using NMEA4800 , 9600 , Bluetooth etc. on bluetooth com8 , have added GPS Assist and today , while demonstrating the setup to a friend , I got a connection to my X7 at a distance of about 26ft down the length of my shop , across the pavement to my X7 which was velcroed to my windscreen , as I said , what have I done that makes mine work so well , or maybe I'm just lucky . As long as I remember to start GPS Assist first it all works beautifully . X7 with IPaq 2200 all maps etc on CF card , PPC2003 .
