Paul
I received a similar e-mail from garmin saying that the future update to version 9 would be via DVD / download. It also implied that the cost would be circa the current £75 excl VAT mark. |

OK i know the mapping is expensive but that's £88.13 if my fingers and thumbs are correct! Almost a new i3 with a warranty....
I fear that many will just buy a new system and bin the old one increasing the electonic waste "mountain"... |

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
I will be happy to help you with this, the next version of mapping (version 9) is out in January, if you contact us again then we will be able to update the maps to version 9 for you. Unfortunately there is not a way round the message at the moment but we are looking to have a fix in the next software update available for download soon.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Product Support Associate Garmin (Europe) Ltd

Subject: Tech support request for StreetPilot i3
Product: StreetPilot i3
Software Version: 3.20
Problem:
Hi, my unit is about 10 months old. It now displays a message "Map Update Notice ... more than a year old ... should be updated"; this interferes with normal operation. The map data is City Navigator Europe NT+ v8. How can I eliminate this message please?
Request emailed to techsupp.europe@garmin.com |

I bought mine in January and I am waiting for the nag screen to appear. Does it appear all the time even when you are navigating, or is it just when you turn it on? I note Garmin say the will include a fix in the next software but I don't want to go above 2.70. _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

The Map Update Notice is appearing when I open MapSource on the PC. I have the CityNavigator Europe v8 DVD.
It seems premature to have this popup appearing 10 weeks before the release of v9!!!!!!!!!!! |

Might the factory update of the TF card from vs7 to vs8 shift the actual "due" date? - just a thought - Mike |

I've just bought an i2 from amazon for £79.99 and when i click on 'map source' in the settings menu it says "City Navigator Europe NT v9", does this mean i've got the v9 mapping software early? |

A number of Garmin devices are now shipping with v9 - for example the Nuvi 660 has only been available with v9. |

it tends to get released on units earlier than it is available to buy separately. it happened with v8 too.

Hi guys,
Just to confirm that v9 should indeed be available end dec/ beginning jan and the cost will be us$75 which I think is under £50. Any units purchased with v8 after 1st September are eligibe for a free upgrade to v9.
Hope this helps. |
