Geko 201 to Palm E2 set up

I recently bought a Garmin Geko 201 and have been impressed with it as a stand alone unit. However, having bought a lead to connect it to my Palm Tungsten E2 with loaded Fugawi mapping/GPS software the Palm isn't recognising the Geko at all.

The Geko has a strong satellite signal and has secured the location but the Palm acts as if there is no GPS unit there at all. Reading both the Geko and Fugawi instructions I believe I have selected the appropriate options (WGS84, etc). Perhaps I'm missing something pretty basic, so could anyone who has connected these units take me through the set up in basic step by step terms?

I have not yet tried connecting the Geko to my main computer. I have only tried linking it to the Palm. I appreciate any help you can give me.
