Are all the maps enabled? If so, do you really need them all enabled? Try disabling Italy, or even load the European Basemap and only enable the parts of France you actually need. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for that. I only loaded cd number 2 and when i look on prefs/maps/memory card it lists all the different maps of france etc but it does not show a base map. The internal memory does show a basemap which is ticked. am i missing something.

I think you will find that the ICN530 is only compatible with SD cards up to and including 512MB, also I found that if you use the default FAT32 setting that Windows uses when formatting the card, that you get frequent software crashing. Re format in FAT only standard and reload the maps and its spot on.
Hope this helps

It seems that is not only about the size of the SD card but also about the make. Initially I bought an Integral 512 MB 66x SD card (because Navman website says: "The Navman iCN 530 is compatible with SD cards up to 512 MB from SanDisk or Integral. Other cards are not supported.")
I know I shouldn't have fallen for this. With Integral my iCN 530 used to crash frequently. After that I bought a Kingston Elite Pro 256 MB SD card and I don't have any prioblems.
By the way, I don't how old are you but I am old enough to remember the good old days when there were only two makes of memory:
Kingston and non-Kingston. |

So if you want to tour Europe (or even just France and Germany) you need a couple of SD card floating around the car waiting to get lost. It does seem to me to be an obvious flaw in a device intended to navigating europe. |

No, all you need is a 512MB card, this will hold all France, Belgium and all Spain, what more do you want. :o the card then stays in the memory slot.

Out of memory is nothing to do with teh SD card size - it's the internal RAM memory of the iCN530.
Try a few things -
Go to the Prefernces/Maps screen and deselect the maps you do not want for that journey. They can be reselected later when needed.
cold start the iCN (Switch off teh battery)
There may be a software fault, or it may just be running out of memory - how long is your trip. Try breaking your trip into a couple of smaller ones. |
