|
|
I have seen similar threads on TomTom 5, but could not find the answer for TomTom 6.
I am using TomTom 6 Western Europe on DVD.
Installed initially onto SD card, then put card into Fujitsu Siemens Pocket Loox.
I set up some favourites.
Added the PocketGPSWorld speed cameras and the Ogg files, set up the POI warnings. No problems.
When I exitted TT (cleanly) and re-started only one favourite remained.
I deleted that favourite, added it under a different name, and some more favourites, when I exit and re-start I just have the one original favourite under the original name.
Similar problems seem to relate to a config file being read-only, but I don't see how this can be the case, when it has remembered one favourite.
Anyone else got this problem? or better still a solution? |

Have you checked the Attributes of the File?
It could be that at some stage in the creation of, adding to, the File that the Read Only Attribute was Set. _________________ Richard

Yes, checked it.
Archive flag was set, but not the "read-only". |

My experience is with TT5, and, if the worst came to the worst, you could remove the CFG. Are there any more dire consequences of doing this in TT6? If not, remove it, and try again. _________________ Jock

For some reason it is now working OK.
I have not changed anything that I know of.
All I have done is used TT6 for real for the first time.
Never happy with problems that just go away by themselves. There is always the risk of them coming back.
Thanks for your help guys. |

When you first start TomTom 6 from a new install you need to set your home location as the first favourite. Once you have done that it is attached to the home location menu. It wont save any additional ones till it has the home location set which is the first entry in favourites. When you exit it updates the .cfg file. restart TomTom and now you can add additional favourites up to a max of 48. Personally i prefer to keep all my favourites in a POI file then when it goes tits up you don't lose them all. _________________ Graham.

Setting up POIs sounds like good advice.
I did set up my "home" address, before I did anything else. |

I keep my favourites file on the PC, when i add additional ones I do to the original on the PC, then copy it to the PDA overwriting the one on there. That way you all ways have the original master safe. _________________ Graham.
