Mick... not a blonde moment, but no you havent "removed the .ogg file extension and just renamed it pocketgps_uk_gatso_30 "!!
It VERY much sounds like (as gasjet says) you had them called ".ogg.ogg" BUT YOU CAN'T SEE IT!
Go to Windows Explorer Tools menu / Folder Options... / View tab. Scroll down in the box and I'll bet you have "Hide extensions for known file types" selected.
It's a "helpful" Windows "feature" to hide the messy reality from users, which causes all sorts of confusion, especially when dealing with the TomTom where several files may have the same name but different extensions (or in Linux, no extension at all!). |

I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU for solving my 'no speed voice' problem. You were spot on, it is ogg.ogg, I followed your advice and removed one ogg, as you said they are hidden, and I now have spoken speed warnings. I wish I had half your brains... :D |

Ah brilliant, just been having a play around and can now double the warning so it initially warns you of camera at say 300 metres then as you get closer to camera it repeats the warning or in my case I have a countdown of warning beeps to the camera bit like road angel does so you will never miss or forget the inital warning.
Regards

funny how after I open my mouth it appears you can get this to work with older versions. just my luck.
still, no worries, glad it's working for a wider audience. Voice warnings are infinitely better than 'boing'. _________________ Well if I had one wish in this god forsaken world, kids

What can I say, never knew that you could do that with TTN.... Just tried the files on my Orange M3100, work a treat using the Liz downloads..
Just used the basic warning GATSO etc for the 20mph ones or others without a specific sound file..
Excellent... Even created a few more now using the AT&T text to voice link...
I did have to try and spell a couple of more unusual words differently to get the correct sound... My company name in particular (which shall be nameless !!) for a warning of arrival on site. Soon got the words to sound OK...
Right must get the WAV to OGG converter going again...
Cheers Phil-w |

Mine seems to have slowed down since installing the voices on my XDA, ie the movement when navigating is jerky and hangs on junctions.
Anyone else noticed any changes? _________________ Paul

Just modify one of the others to make the missing files.

Hi,
Can anyone Help, Iam trying to install the Voice alerts for Speed cameras form Rays Tom Tom site, How do i know which file to download.
How Can I tell what Build and version number my Tom Tom510.
See comments
The sounds are complied into a file called data.chk. TomTom will not boot with an invalid or corrupt data.chk file so check your version & build and download the correct one ! ! !.

|

If anyone would like my modified set of Ray Flanagans "Liz Whitacker" warning files they are available from the links below.
The files are in .ogg format, overall volume has been increased, and an attention grabbing siren spliced to the front end.
The "missing" 20 mph, variable etc soundfiles are included.
These are the 24 PGPSW zoned warnings renamed ready to copy and paste into the map folder.
Each set is in a zipped folder for download convenience, so unzip first.
Sampled at 22050Hz for Tomtom Navigator, and a 16000Hz set for Tomtom Mobile.
22050Hz file set http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=195525
16000Hz file set http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=195522
As with ANY file from ANY source, ALWAYS run an AV scan before opening to protect yourself.
PS-Please forgive the mildly cheesy webhost-I dont have personal webspace. |
