https://www.tomtom.com/newdock/
TomTom Inc. has determined that a limited number of windshield mounts included with shipments of the GO 510 and 910 do not perform to our standards. These mounts can result in the device drooping or in a loose power connection (i.e., battery may not charge fully).
Importantly, TomTom stands behind its products and its customers and will replace free of charge any mount that is not functioning properly.
Simply register your device by clicking on the link below and we will determine if you are eligible to have your windshield mount replaced. You will receive your new mount within 4 weeks from placing your order.
One free windshield mount is allowed per eligible device.

Wow!
Although the fact that they will replace dodgy mounts is old news, the fact that they are admitting it publicly is certainly new!
Funny though, although it looks like uocooper's post is actually a quote from TomTom ("...do not perform to our standards"), the text on the page he links to is different; have they already had to re-word it?. |

Thanks for posting about this, I bought my 510 from Halfords in the UK a few months ago. It hasn't had a lot of use and I've noticed no particular problem with the mount...but they're sending the new one, should be with me in 10 days. |

I got my new mount. Thanks TomTom!!! :D
It has a lot of play, and it does not lose the connection. Unfortunately it's impossible to lock the mount (second click) . Even with the mount in my hand it won't lock. Although it doesn't lock (second click), it seems to keep stuck to the window. Maybe they forgot to send me the spanner |

Get back in touch with Tomtom, tell them this one is faulty & they should replace it. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver

Oh and Halfords were so rude about the problem with my 510 mount,in the end had to involve Trading Standards. |

Don't ya just lurv Halfords? If they spent more money on customer service training for their staff* and a bit less running cars around race tracks, they might keep more of their customers. They refused to give me a telephone nmuber for TomTom AND said the mount I had (in several pieces) was broken due to misuse.
* on second thoughts - make that ANY KIND of training.

I am having problems entering my serial number as it keeps coming up as an invalid format, yet I am typing it exactly as it is displayed on the bottom of my TomTom 510. Any suggestions anyone? |

I contacted tomtom direct quoting my serial number and they got back to me to say they will send me a new mount. They did not say anything about why the problem with the serial numbers arises. _________________ Jim |

That sounds encouraging. Have you got the phone number that you used? I'll give them a call.
Cheers! |
