Hi
I have been able to obtain a Excel spreadsheet with all the static, mobile and temp camera locations in my county. The excel sheet has a descriptive location followed by 2 x 6 diget referance data. I think these are os referances. I have been able to briefy verify that there are a number of new sites not shown in the early oct 06 release. Does anyone know of a programme that can be dowloaded to convert this data into the co-ordinates required for submission to the database? :o |

Actually guys I think you will find that these are perfectly valid 12 figure OS grid References - accurate to 1 metre !
I have only checked the first one : 401880 175750 which is about a 1/4 mile North of Hilmarton, on the A3102 after it crosses a stream !
The first block of 6 figures are the Eastings and the second block of 6 are the Northings. The first number from eack block identify the Map Sheet ( 100 Km ) - In the above example 4 1 converts to map sheet SU, so the full Grid Ref is SU 01880 75750.
You can decode the Uk map sheets with the following :
Number the grid starting from the bottom left corner ("0,0" ) and you will see how Map sheet SU is arrived at from "4,1" - i.e "4" across ( Eastings ) and "1" up ( Northings ). Along the corridor & up the stairs !

My POIConverter program http://rjdavies.users.btopenworld.com/html/poiconverter.html will read files that contain Eastings and Northings. Have a look at AutoRoute Pushpins in the Help file after you have installed it.
