Hi,
I am a new TomTom user and my husband and I are planning a road trip across Europe. My husband has been using a Garmin Nuvi for a few months and we will probably take both navigation devices with us.
My question is: what is the best database to download for speed cameras across Europe? We had a quick look on the internet and the choice seems to be endless. Which one do we go for? Are the paid databases far better than the free ones or is the difference minimal?
Also, which of our products (TomTom or Garmin) should we download the speed camera database onto. i.e., is there any difference in the way they work on the 2 products, or does it not matter?

One tip, when travelling through France just stick to the speed limits. A few kph over the top may be tolerated but stray over the 110kph on the Autoroute/Motorway when it's raining/wet, or over the 45kph near schools and your wallet/purse will be a few Euros lighter.
The Gendarmes can and do set up speed traps when and wherever they like. A number of times, over the years, I've seen an old 'corrugated' Renault vans, or similar, apparently broken down at the side of the road. Another picture to add to your holiday 'SNAPS'.
I've also seen them fairly often just inside villages/hamlets where you have left a 90kph and gone into the 50kph. Remember it's the village/hamlet name plate, edged in red, which tells you it's 50, and another nameplate edged in black with a black diagonal line through it telling you you are back to 90.
Don't chance speeding, it's not worth the hassle if caught. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
