to have the i3 alert you WHENEVER your breaking the speed limit and not just when your near a speed camera?

I'm sorry if this sounds ridiculous but I'm just curious as I tend to have lead boots sometimes! I also appologise if this has been mentioned before. I've used the search feature but come up with nothing.

Either way, thanks for taking time to read this!

Welcome to the forums, You can only get the alerts on yor GPS if you set POIs (speedcams in this case) and then you specify an approximity alert for each POI (hence the alert when you are a certain distance from the speedcam. The GPS can not identify the speed limits on the various road and therefore will not be able to produce alerts if you exceed the speed limit.

Also I can not imagine how annoying this would be to have the beeps every time you exceed the speed limit (not that I am advocating you do it very often!)

Hi
My Nuvi bleeps if the vehicle goes too fast for a given road.

Cannot remember why, but if it knows I am on a 50mph road the system can work out the vehicle speed over a given distance and "bleep" annoys people when I loan it to them.

I dont drive that far now so my son/daughter/wife/interested persons use it.

Thanks a lot! I suppose at least knowing where the speed cameras are and what speed your doing around THEM is the important thing!

Thanks for your time!

The mapping data would need to have speed info built into it for every road (or every 'type' of road) in order to do this.

This tech is not widely available yet, but I read somewhere that Ordnace Survey are working on this type of thing in conjunction with trials for speed restricted cars i.e if you start to go over the limit your car won't let you!

Careful what you wish for....

What car do you have? If you're luck you might have one built in!

My Audi A4 will allow user defined speed alarms.

Taunt
