Well, that didn't take too long to 'pull'.
Did the minister concerned find it too embarrassing, or too sensitive?
The report was far too long to put here, hence the link.
Basically, reporters had gone undercover and approached traffic camera
manufactures and discovered evidence we had suspected long ago…allegedly.

Did the minister concerned find it too embarrassing, or too sensitive? | What is there to be embarrassed about? Speed Cameras have overwhelming public support and a politician has nothing to apologise about when he is giving his constituency what they want.

He may be giving his constituency what ever they want; after all, it’s in the interest of the government in which he is a member of.
I take it you did read the first article in full?

I take it you did read the first article in full? | I thought so but maybe I missed anything you find deserving of embarrassment. In summary speeding motorists are paying "buckets of money" into general government funds, and if that is so they will be reducing the tax burden on less heavy-footed members of society. How red should any Minister's face be for that revelation?

When you see extracts like these for instance!
"...will add new weight to the public's perception that the gadgets are designed more for making money than improving road safety".
"and promised: 'There will be so much money coming in you won't know what to do with it". |

"and promised: 'There will be so much money coming in you won't know what to do with it". | You underestimate the intelligence of your fellow citizens. I doubt that is a "public" perception, just a local one amongst certain groups like this one. The public also knows the difference between "making money" and contributing to government funds and many, perhaps including all non-motorists, will be pleased that some of the excess funds will go to non-road purposes.

Nowhere in the article is ‘safety’ the overriding positive feature that is promoted.
Only the money generated seems to be the dominant element in this saga.

So do you think “certain groups like this one” perpetrate myths about the role of safety cameras?
I say again, nowhere in the article is ‘safety’ the overriding positive feature that is promoted.Only the money generated seems to be the dominant element in this saga.
I rest my case.
