|
|
I love the Garmin I3 in fact I intend on using it on my bike as well as in my car.
Is there a kind soul out there who can give me idiot proof instructions on how to load Metroguide V8 Europe maps onto a new 512Mb Transflash card?
I do have a USB card read/writer.
I've been looking on Google but all I find is waaayyyy over my head.
I've tried to do this but all I end up with is the I3 displaying a white screen saying "Use PC USB connection to I3" or summat.
I'd rather not as I don't want to mess up my UK transflash card or the excellent POI Scamera data that I already have (installed when I bought it on Ebay).
Thanks in advance....
Oh it's a Pan European ST1100 for any bikers out there. |

make sure you load onto a blank card not the original.....do a search for 'img2gps' and 'metrowizz' and you will find loads of stuff on it.. _________________ *************************** |

As Zogman has said go for Metrowizz. Its soooo simple compared to other methods. _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

Thanks guys.
Metrowizz for me!
I had a quick look at work but I'll have a go at it this weekend at home.
Looks really good though.
Thanks again! |

Quick update.
Tried Metrowizz last night and it worked perfectly.
Thanks guys!
My new 512Mb card now has nearly all of France and the Benelux countries on it.
Simplicity itself!

I would also suggest you trial a route in your local area. Metroguide deals with roundabouts slightly different. I tells you to turn right or left at a roundabout rather than 'take the first left' etc. The map however shows the exact turning. I hope this helps! _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

Thanks I read about that. I'll keep an 'ear' out for it.

Thanks for that mkg - I was on the right site but a page further up the hierachy - unfortunately on that page unless you full screen it you can't see the download option - does anyone see the sponsors banner or do we all have to submit an email address ? |

Hi everybody
I also want to buy Metroguide Europe V7 or V8 and download it onto a blank transflash card to use with my I3. V7 is much cheaper at about £40 versus £80 for V8. Are there any big differences? Does anybody know the map generation dates?
Also, I have an I3 with the UK maps , City Navigator NT V8, preloaded into the GPS, so no card is needed in UK.
If I load Metroguide Europe onto a blank Transflash and plug it into the GPS, will the original maps be still available for UK and will the Transflash work for Europe?
I read somewhere that the CD map creating route doesn't work with units with 'NT' maps pre-installed, or is that just with 'City Navigator?
My brain hurts!
Please help as I am busting to buy a CD and try this out |

I have the older unit with the map on the card but i was under the impression that you could load a second map on you seperate card . When you have two different maps installed you can select which map it uses in settings (this menu only appears when you have two maps installed). I have tried this when i installed contours mapping and metroguide v7 and the maptiles overlapped. It gave me the option to select.
As for the difference between V7 +V8 its normally 18 months. If you go for a brand new and sealed version 7 and contact Garmin with a proof of purchase it has been known for them to give you a free upgrade(not G'teed)but worth a go! _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

Thanks Beerbellybill999. Have ordered Metroguide europe V7 at £39.99. hopefully will be current enough for me. Most of the places I go in France, etc, haven't changed for years.
Will post if it works OK. |
