Hi StevePritchard
Yes, up-to-date and accurate maps, that’s what one needs. But 12 months from now I have no doubt that TT6 users will also be crying out for new maps. And guess what….Tomtom will probably be bringing out a TT7 that will use a different map format. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Yeah, but you've got to jump on the bandwagon at some time...
Cheers,
Steve. |

I believe a new one, but the guys here will surely be putting them up (if not already done) _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

I have ran Checkpoint 5.2 since it came available and find it just fine.
However, they have never been able (or unwilling) to cure the flickering problem. I, like most other users overcome that annoyance by going to Checkpoint / Settings / General Settings, and tick the ‘Show Warning Information’ box. |
Thanks T1234 - maybe it'll be sorted for TT6 then. |

So we don't have confirmation whether it works with TT6? When it does, the flickering might be sorted by the use of the API that comes with TT6.
Cheers,
Steve |

Ok here's some info which you may find useful. Please bear in mind that I have not used TTN5.x/Checkpoint 5.x extensively so some of the things I mention may not be news to others.
I have been using TTN3.07 for almost a couple of years now. I tried TTN5 for a short while but didn't like the layout of things and the fact that they took out some of my favourite functionality ("due to customer request" my @rse) like being able to program the hardware buttons on the PDA, etc.
I now have TTN6 and have it working with Checkpoint 5.20. I find that it works pretty well overall, but I have noticed that with multiple audio alerts per POI configured such as for speed cameras, I only get one audio warning (it appears to be the last warning). I only get this warning about 4 or 5 seconds before the approaching POI despite me setting it to 10 seconds. It's not a problem with the angle of detection because I tested this on a straight road with a couple of cameras about a mile ahead, I only got the one warning.
Apart from that it seems to work ok and integrate with Tomtom.
I do like the native support for 7-digit postcodes and there are some nice features I haven't seen before like Navigate to POI near route (handy for when you're peckish and want Maccy D's or KFC but don't want to go too far away from your route). I like that there is more info on the screen like road names on the map which wasn't in v3 (but may have been in v5).
I am determined to try it for longer than I gave to version 5 this time as I don't really want to go back to 5 year old maps rather than the 2 year old ones that are (probably) in version 6.
I would like to get Checkpoint working better though as I have a clean license and want to keep it that way! So I will be watching this thread with interest. |

Has anybody (who has TTNav6) tested CheckPOInt v6?
Does the display still blink, or has it been resolved?

I have never suffered from this "blinking" problem.
I have just installed Checkpoint 6 now but won't test it really until tomorrow. |

How did you get on with CheckPOInt 6?
Does CheckPOInt 6 flicker? It’s some time since I tried CheckPOInt 5 (I removed it because of the flicker when I tried it with TTNav5 on my iPAQ h2210).
Can somebody who uses CheckPOInt 5 or 6 and the PocketGPSWorld camera database please remind me whether CheckPOInt displays the individual PGPSW camera id and details (e.g. GATSO:1234@30)?

Ok. Now I have the "flicker" effect, but with Checkpoint 6 only, I do NOT get it with Checkpoint 5.2! Bizzarre or what? |

I forgot to mention that neither checkpoint 5.2 or 6 perform as well as 3.2 running with TTN3.07. With 5/6 I only usually get one audio alert for cameras even though 2 are set up, and I am not warned until much later, I have warnings set at 15 and 30 secs and they are more like 12 and 6 secs, and mostly I don't get the first one! Poo!
I still haven't decided whether to go back to TTN3.07 or not yet. TTN6 may have updated maps, but I never really had problems with the v3 maps. 7-digit postcodes is the only thing stopping me going back to v3 at the moment. I REALLY miss my hardware buttons. |

Did anyone ever resolve if CheckPoint runs on TTN6? I've tried and it seems to object to the original TomTom Camera overlays, then when you try to load TTN6 from the checkpoint menu, TTN6 errors (failed to start) and locks up. I definitely downloaded the Checkpoint V6.
Doesn't look good. I wanted to use it for the same reasons others have mentioned, plus I want to suppress voice guidence but keep alerts. I'm not keen on the "Silent Voice" alternative, although it does work, but is fiddly to switch. |
