In the world of GPS and Pocket PC's I'm a complete 'Tool'. I've Got a 'vintage' Ipaq 3635 which I use for very basic functionality.
Now from the reading I've done it appears that this little 'classic' could have another lease of life as a SatNav.
I would be greatful for some advice regarding what I need to 'morph' this little 'vintage' beauty into the SatNav Device its always aspired to be ...... go on make a 3635 Happy this Christmas (ok then ...... me).
As I mentioned I am an idiot so I'd be grateful if you treat me accordingly and provide me with some basic / fundemental advice working from the bottom up.
Many Thanks and all the best

Welcome.
You need a GPS receiver - in your case probably a serial receiver makes the most sense.
Then you need a place to store maps - this means a CF card jacket, and of course a CF card. Note that this will make your beauty look a bit bulky
Next a navigation program - TomTom 5 will do just fine. TomTom 6 will not run on the 3600 (for no other reason than TomTom deciding it to be so)
Last but not least you need a car mount - it needs to be compatible with the serial GPS, and you may actually get a combination device (a mount with cigarette adapter power and with GPS receiver).
That's all - easy, innit? _________________ Lutz

Some very friendly and good advice. As I mentioned before I'm a 'Numpty' so forgive this silly question.
You've mentioned that TT5 will be fine but 6 is not supported. Does this mean that future Map / Road updates aren't available for TT5 or is it a case that TT6 just has more functionality.
Apologises for my 'numbness' |
