TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver Available In Europe
~Offers best traffic user-interface integration in the market~
UK, 3 October 2006 – TomTom, the leading navigation solution provider, today announced the availability of its RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver. For a highly competitive, one off cost of just £69.99, the easy to use RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver will be available in shops throughout Europe from October.
The RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver is compatible with the new TomTom GO 910, TomTom GO 710 and TomTom GO 510 and ensures seamless integration of RDS-TMC Traffic information with the user-interface of the TomTom GO.
“The RDS-TMC Traffic solution complements TomTom’s existing TomTom PLUS Traffic offering and ensures users have a choice as to which traffic service best suits their individual preferences”, said Harold Goddijn, TomTom’s chief executive officer. “The full integration of traffic information in the user interface of our products, together with the use of high quality sources provides consumers with the best and most complete traffic experience in the market.”
In order to receive RDS-TMC Traffic information via the TomTom GO, customers require TomTom’s latest software application, which is easily available through TomTom HOME. |

About bloody time!
Good news is that having looked at http://www.itisholdings.com/itmc.asp (well worth a browse if you're into the technology) it seems like it might be a better offering than the PLUS service. It's based on the same data, it's real-time, focussed on the route you've programmed and doesn't need GPRS.
Now to find some stock... |

I'm not so sure about TMC, I had a Garmin Nuvi but I took it back because the TMC info was useless. If the transmission system improves then I may go for one of these but I can see that taking a while. |

You know, tomtom are a complete joke, perhaps they should take a year off from developing new dud's and take some time to develop their skills in customer relations and marketing skills. Ok there are no prawn sandwiches here, like at cebit etc but they just may be able to call themselves a market leader for the sake off a little forethought.
At present, Mr goodwijn you suck. |
