Hi There

Last Thursday I took delivery of a Mio DigiWalker c710 having previously had TomTom5.21 on an iPAQ with Bluetooth receiver.

My initial impressions are highly favorable.
Clear mapping, efficient GPS positioning (especially from Cold), Speed Camera database has good coverage of my routes so far (are all camera positions all directional though?), and TMS is working well.

However my initial bug bear is the Warn When Speeding facility.
I have the feature activated, set to Percentage +20%.
The Alternative Speed Limit is set to 70mph with same percentage.

Today I didnt set a route so I could monitor what speed to c710 thought I was travelling against the speed limit the c710 thought I was in.

So when travelling at 25mph in a 30 mph zone I was warned repeatedly that I was exceeding the speed limit!!!!!!

Has anyone else encountered this same issue?

Do anyone have suggestions here to help overcome this challenge.

Regards

Nigel

Hello Nigel,
Congratulations on your new purchase.
You will find this is a well-known issue and if you browse back in the forum you will find it discussed comprehensively.
Which version of Miomap is in your new 710? is it 3.11 or 3.2?

Ok Thanks Sal

I will look through the forum in more details.
Its thanks to this forum and the advice that I bought the c710.

Unfortunately they are still shipped with v3.11 (May 25 2006)

I assumed the speeding tolerance setting held back a warning until I was at speed limit + Tolerance. By trial and error it found that setting it to 100% only provides a warning when above the speed limit set on the map data.

have turned alternative speed limit off as I have not found a use/need for it.
