| Last year I bought a Palm Navigation Kit with TTN5 software and a Tungsten E2 PDA. Software works great for my purposes. TTN6 will not be compatible with this PDA. Will there ever be a map upgrade for the TTN software? |

According to our limited information TomTom is considering the option to provide map updates for TTN5. These will not be free, though.

Great news, I hope the map updates will also work on TTM5. It's ridiculous that those of us with "old" devices have absolutely no way to use new maps, and are stuck with buggy outdated ones. |

Trouble is the TTN6 maps although improved, are still out of date in some regions.

I guess that's true. My main complaint about the TTN5 maps is the incorrect speed limits. For example, TT thinks that a road near my house has a speed limit of 120km/h, when the limit is really 60km/h. This means that it will ALWAYS route me down that road even if it's out of the way. Wouldn't usually be a huge problem, except that just by coincidence that particular road is one which I hate driving down anyway!
I don't know if TTN6 maps fix the speed limits, but I hope so. |

Of course they are, they always will be. You wouldn't expect a 2007 road atlas to be up to date would you ? |

The TT5 maps we have in Europe do not have speed limits of roads as such and I am surprised the Oz ones do.
Are you sure you are not confusing this with the assumptions that TT make when planning a route? They are not based upon the speed limit of the road (at least not in TT5) but rather on the road type.

Hmm, I don't know to be honest. I'm basing my assumption on the demo mode when you plan a route with advanced planning, and it will drive down the road at 122km/h.
Perhaps the road is incorrectly classified as a freeway or something, when really it's just a normal road. |

Yep - that has nothing to do with the speed limit of the road, which TT5 does not know (does on some roads in TT6). It relies upon what type of road it is. Of course such things can only be an estimate and not all roads of the same typw will sustain the same speeds.
