I`ve seen map lag on my i3 with transflash it in 3d/map mode gets worst the faster i go, steady speed 20mph the screen stops tracking and then atfer 50 to 100 feet catches up and repeats, the other thing i found very anouying is the bloody auto zoom stuff in map mode, i dont want it doing that i like it to stay set at the level i choose, and not auto zoom out when going fast and zooming in when slowing down in 3d mode it sucks. _________________ tom tom start 25

Sorry if this is not a continuation of the thread and I am sure it has been covered somewhere else but can you please tell me if I should use " Normal" or " WAAS / EGNOS" GPS Mode. I live in the Nottingham area if that makes a difference. |

Living in Nottingham makes no difference at all.
Using EGNOS/WAAS can potentially make your sat. nav. more accurate.
In my opinion it does not make any practical difference.
It will do no harm to have it on except that it may run your batteries down a bit quicker.
Nick. |

I am greatful that you share your knowledge on this site, thanks. I have one final problem to solve. My i3 was loaded with the 3.10 firmare and I am also disapointed with the 3.20 version upgrade. I would like to return to the 3.10 firware which was working fine on my unit. I am unable to find a download for this. Can you help ? |

I've updated to version 3.20 from 3.10 and have noticed no difference at all. I am pretty new to Sat Nav and Garmin StreetPilot i3 and don't really know too much. So can anyone tell me if there is a difference between Normal GPS Mode and WAAS/EGNOS. Also does the map in Track Up mode work better than 3D mode or visa versa ? Thanks |

This is fast becoming my conclusion.
My i3 was supplied with 3.1, internal maps, Speed cams & MaFt POIs.
Map mode, lags in 3D mode, but not so bad in north up (I can live with that).
Nav mode, all seems ok. |

Grrrrr. I have downloaded firmware 3.10 and tried to change the firmware on my i3. When trying to erase the previous firmware (3.20) I get an error messge that tells me to send my pc details to Garmin technical support. Anyone else had this problem or can suggest a solution ? |

Hi I am new to garmin i3 and have one of the new units with maps on the unit. It came with 3.1 software and have upgraded it to 3.2.
I have read this thread with a keen intrest. I waited to post till I did a run today to London and back. The unit behaved first class with right through the day. I encountered no lockups but noticed a 5 seconds delay in updating the map sometimes. This was no problem at all as the audio instructions were clear and precise, espacially in east London. |

Almahadeus, the reason why I want to change back is because the voice prompts are too early and I find that I am being told to turn too soon. I realise I can watch the countdown on the unit but would rather have the voice prompts at the correct time. When the kind lady demands that I turn left, and there are several left turns I keep turning down the wrong one. This never happened with the 3.10 firmware. In any case, I seem to be unable to go back to 3.10 without contacting Garmin. I will do that tomorrow. Another problem I have had with both 3.10 and 3.20 firmware is that when it calculates a route it underestimates the mileage. |
