Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a particular behaviour with speedcams and if there is anything we can do about it.
Lets say I'm going along a road and the Nuvi tells me to turn left in half a mile. Just after the turn on the road I am currently travelling on, there is a mobile camera van pointing right at me.
If I have the option set to only alert for pois on current route, the Nuvi does not alert me to the camera as it has turned me before the poi and thus does not believe it is on route. Unfortunately, the laser beam of the police van doesn't care if I'm turning or not.
Also, if I choose to stay on the current road (as I often do and let the unit recalculate because I know the traffic patterns), the camera information does not appear until recalculation has finished and the unit has announced 'recalculating'
I'd like to see a third option available that only considers cameras on route and on the current road within the notification distance
That way you can have just on route, on route or road to avoid cameras near turns or all nearby pois (which helps also if you turn off a road where the camera is just off route) |

I guess you are using the Garmin speed camera database, and not the PGPSW one? If so, I would contact Garmin with the issue and see if you can get it passed onto the developers. I would not expect the PGPSW database to suffer this problem (because it doesn't have the ability to only warn you to cameras on the route). |

I'm using the PGPSW one and you are correct that there is no option. But, the unit defaults to 'on route' when a destination is set or uses local area if you are driving with no destination |
