I've got Map version 605 on my tomtom 500 at the moment and i'm thinking of upgrading it. I know there is a update program close but I've lost my product key so it will not be available to me. I was thinking of buying the GB Map listed on the TomTom site but do not now if this is the latest one or there will be a even newer one when the update program comes into affect?
I.E will I be wasting my money buying a map now? |

The update maps shoould be the "latest'.....but, with TomTom, who can tell?
I expect them to be fully compatible with the v6 software and have sufficient data to enable the use of speed limit warnings etc. I believe that only th maps that come with the x10 models do this at the moment. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I downloaded the "latest" GB map from Tomtom 3 weeks ago for a friend and it was v6.32 which came out last December. TT informed me that they only release an update for download once per year and that should be due at the end of this year, they inform us via the newsletter. I am still fighting TT on this as TT Home says "BUY LATEST MAPS" and 6.5 came out in Juno on new TT510 etc purchases. |

The new TT ONE uses United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland v660.1199 I read in another thread that apparently size isn't everything 8O that a smaller number does not necessarily mean an older map _________________ TT ONE v2

I wish you well with your quest Brian. I too recently fell foul of the "latest" maps when I went through the HOME route to buy some European maps for my new GO510.
I argued that the hyperlink said it was the "latest" but ended up buying out of date version 6.32 maps even though the internet was awash with the 6.50 versions.
Their response was as follows:-
". . . . The downloadable maps are not, and have never been marketed as the "latest" map data. They are there so customers can purchase maps for areas they do not have at greater convenience and lower cost than through conventional physical media (i.e. through SD-card/CD's). They have never been classed as a map update path. The way to get the latest map data is either through purchasing the newest devices (x10 series or new TomTom ONE Second Edition), or through our map update program. You allready have the latest map data we have available apart from the new TomTom ONE Second Edition.
Refunds are not possible if the customer has already activated the map. Also, purchasing accessories are not an update path, this does not guarantee you will have the latest map data at all. We can offer a free download of a new map when the downloadable maps have been updated to contain newer map data.
We hope to have answered your question
Should you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know."
When I complained about the content and tone of the response I received this:-
" . . . . we are very sorry for any inconvinience your purchase may have caused you. As we have stated before, the download map option we offer to our customers are the latest map beside the update we offer. The update is the new map within our new products and an update program that will be available soon. For your misunderstanding the procedure mentioned above, we would like to offer you a free download of a new map when the downloadable maps have been updated to contain newer map data."
I've yet to discover which free map/s they are referring to as they've stopped talking to me |

Jeez, that makes me mad. They deliberately make the whole map business as difficult to understand as possible.
OK so maybe they don't specifically say the downloadable maps are "the latest", but they certainly don't say they aren't!
Also they do say "These maps are accessory products, and most are available as CD or SD products as well, please check our web-store." which certainly implies to me that they are the same versions... |
