Undecided between the i range or the Nuvi. I drive mainly in the UK but wouldn't mind the option of Euro maps on that odd time I go abraod.
I drive by voice instruction and have been confused by some claims that the Nuvi range all have voice and other claims that only the 350 does! The i3 seems to suit because of the voice element and the lesser requiremnts for a large screen
Any advice appreciated _________________ TomTom 720

All the Nuvis have voice directions, but the 350, 360 and 660 have Text to Speech (TTS) which allows a much greater range, so whereas the 300, 310 and 610 will say "In 200 yards turn left" the TTS units will say "In 200 yards turn left in High Street".
If you want European maps built in, you will also have to buy the 350, 360 or 660, although the 310 is available in a Deluxe version (310D) which gives you the traffic module and a DVD of European maps, which can then be loaded onto an SD card (not normally supplied, although you may get one thrown in if you buy from Halfords). |

cheers swing. I currently use CoPilot 5 which I like but not the PDA it runs on and would like a dedicated system.
What about the i3 range ? _________________ TomTom 720

the i3 is good for the price. but it IS a budget system and lacks some features of the higher models.
personally, if i had the money i'd rather have a nuvi - the 300 i borrowed was great but this has been superceded by the 310 with bluetoot. the 350/360 have full euro maps but i wouldn't need them...

I really like the idea of text to speech though. I like it when Co pilot tells me to turn right into Victoria Street rather than turn right in 100 yards. Especially when there are several turnings close together. Whats it like without that feature ? Has this been a problem for you? _________________ TomTom 720

Been thinking about this and I really like the "basic" fuctionality of the i3. I know I won't get text to speech but I guess I can learn to use the basic audio directions. It seems a popular product looking at threads here and I have noted the negatives but thats the same for every Sat Nav product but I would like to hear of peoples experiences with using the i3 in general use please. _________________ TomTom 720

I have both a 360 and an I3. One thing to bear in mind is if your car is noisy the i3 is a lot louder. I can bearly hear the Nuvi in my convertible.
I have the TTS on the Nuvi but I think its a bit overrated. I tend to use the distance from the juntion to guess where to turn. Often street names can be hard to see. |

Thats a good point.
Does the i3 say things like "take 3rd exit from roundabout on the A13" or just "take 3rd exit" _________________ TomTom 720

It says 'take third exit at roundabout' It doesn't have the vocabulary for the TTS words. |

OK, I don't see that as a major problem for the odd time there are multiple turnings close together...re-routes a wonderful thing......and for £125 the i3 sounds a bargain. I don't use the screen on my PDA at the moment anyway and navigate by voice. _________________ TomTom 720
