Connect your Nuvi to your PC and take a copy of the internal memory - this will include the map files, so if anything happened to your Nuvi you would be able to return the files back to how it arrived.
Go to www.garmin.com and download POI Loader, and then follow the instructions in the Speed Camera section of this website for uploading the camera database to a Garmin unit via POI Loader.
For a Nuvi 300, I don't think there is any "software" that you would need, except POI Loader, and, if you want to upgrade the firmware, there is also a program called WebUpdater. |

Just wondered how map updates work.
As new roads are built, postcodes changed etc, how do I keep the data in my Nuvi 300 uptodate? The post office (for example) seem to have a habit of changing peoples postcodes every few years. |

Every year Garmin will produce updated maps which you can choose to buy or not. If you buy the maps they come with full instructions on how to apply the new maps to your unit.
The next set of maps are due out early next year. |
