I live near Hadleigh, Suffolk. I have a 3630 and I can't get my GPS working either! and am looking for someone to try, so your offer would suit me just fine if you aren't too far away.
I have a Rikaline 6010. Like you I get a grey screen but I have, at times, had a Digital clock (a few minutes different to the iPAQ time, so I presume that was satellite time) and, just once, I got a set of satellites. Now nothing ...
I'd fiddled with a utility which came with GPS Mouse that let me set BAUD rate etc. and thereafter it worked, but I haven't been able to repeat the trick, so I assume that the test I did was not actually relevant.

Fiddling is dangerous because it's not just connecting to the GPS with different options, but you can re-program the GPS to a different baud rate, so if you don't know what you are doing, it's best to leave well alone.
There have been reported problems with the 6010's and as I keep saying to people, contact Rikaline for more information. Rikaline have recently been selling the 6012's as 6010's and there have been a bad batch of receivers that didn't work properly, so I would either contact your local retailer where you purchased it from, or speak to Rikaline.
The default settings should be COM1, NMEA 4800. |

Thanks Dave, I saw the 6010/6012 material on your site after making my post
My box says 6010 but the GPS Mouse looks just like your comaprison picture of a 6012 (however the accompanying PDF DOCs have manuals for both, and they both look like the 6012 in there). The distinguishing features in the DOCs, that I can find!, say that 6010 has "Magnetic pad with mounting screws" [absent from 6012 DOCs]. Mine came with an adhesive pad that does that job, and a SuctionPad->Magentic Stork - listed as optional with for 6010&6012.
So I have no idea which one I have!
I'm left with wanting to plug it into someone else's PDA to eliminate whether its my PDA or the GPS that is faulty.
I'll make sure I use the right driver, thanks for that advice.

Thanks for your comments on the thread I started - the replacement came through promptly and worked immediately. The replacement is clearly badged with a label on the base saying it is a 6010. |
