Hi,
My information is also first hand with the released version.
Version 6 does not have a screen rotation icon however screen rotation does work "on the fly" using Windows Mobile 2003 SE which it most cetainly didn't with Version 5.
I am sorry if I caused some confusion here but I did corect my original statement.
I can't really say whether Version 6 is worthwhile. Apart from a possibly updated map most people would be hard pressed to see an difference.
I am using a Dell Axim X30. |

Where can this "authorised release version" be obtained? |

So if Navigator 6 is going to be €99 does that mean that Navigator 6 plus the maps of western Europe will likely be under €200. anyone have any reliable info as to the combination price?
Also does anyone have any screen shots they can post?
And a final question, what is the best website to pre-order and get the best price? |

On the topic of sales, Mobile Fun are listing at £109.95 for the software and DVD.
As an adjunct, many of us are legitimate registered users of TT5. It appears that there is no upgrade path to TT6, and it's a straight new software/maps purchase.
Am I correct, then, in assuming that if I buy TT6 I can legitimately sell on my full copy of TT5, with box and code card included? Or will TT have a policy that the previous version cannot be registered to someone else? I have had the previous version since release, and it has run on 2 devices (last change of device July 2005).
If I can sell on TT5, then the "upgrade" cost should be relatively small. |

Sorry to be a pain in the ar5e but can anyone (moderator or whoever) who is using the pre-release version, or indeed anyone with navigator 5 latest map versions, tell me how good the mapping of Madrid, Spain is that comes on the maps of western Europe CD? I do a lot of business travel there and never end up in the same hotel and always have to drive there in the dark. Is it the same detail as teh UK map?
Thanks for everyones previous posts and responses by the way |

Thanks Lutz.
Nice to know something will work OK.
On the subject of the flashing red speed warning, if this info is embedded in the map data would it not have been a good idea to have the the speed limit shown in a little window. Much more use than an illegible flashing thing. |

Not sure about Madrid (I've just taken the maps off as I'm back in the UK), but have just used TomTom V5.21 with Maps of Western Europe (the Spanish Maps being loaded) in southern Spain. They were as good if not better than UK maps, with roads down to dirt tracks being shown and naviagble. What was disconcerting is that when you come to a Motorway split in the UK it tells you to keep right or left - in Spain it says nothing, you have to assume you're staying on the same Motorway. Not so bad you'd assume but I found that the Motorway split really is that in Spain, not like the UK where it is a more obvoius junction. _________________ TomTom HP Navigation Pack (old)

Why the hell have TomTom removed the screen orientation option from v6?! This was one of the most useful features of v5 for me as I could have TomTom start in landscape mode on my MDA Compact without having to mess around with the WM2003 settings. :x
Are there any freeware apps that can rotate the screen on a per-application basis, for example rotating the screen whenever I launch TomTom and revert back to portrait when TomTom closes. |

A friend tried to install on his mio 168, and says it will get so far into setting up but then locks his PDA, while with 5 everything is great. Do I assume a) His PDA is knackered or b) 6 is not compatible with the mio 168 |

I'd assume that the copy he's trying to load is knackered, myself. _________________ Tim |
