Planning a two way route last night I was faced with an apparent detour on the return leg for a junction I know quite well. Where the route should have gone (and did on the out leg) a 2 mile addition taking in some small lanes to avoid the junction. No matter how much I dragged additional via-points into that leg placing them onto the road I wanted to follow it then doubled back and followed the detour. It was only this morning when I tried to place a via-point a few feet before the turn that it agreed to comply with my wishes.
What caused this, anyone know? _________________ Chas

Might I suggest you have a look at www.ukgser.com and post this question in the GPS section. One of the contributors, Pan European, does software testing for Garmin and would be well placed and happy to answer this question |

Most likely an error in the map data. Do you get the same problem using Mapsource on your PC? _________________ Gone fishing! |

I was traveling south on the M6 and had the Quest2 plan a route to get me to the Burton In kendal Services (there a north bound only service station) which it did happily.
On asking it to resume my route heading south on the M6 it asked me to make my way to the M6 so i could go across the north bound carriageway to pick up the southbound carriage way.
Last time i looked theres no gap in the central reservation so i ignored it and found my own way back out onto the road running parallel with the M6 untill the quest worked out what i was upto.
I have had it with this Quest 2 and i am going to try and get a refund or upgrade for the Zumo as i primarilly bought this for my Motorbike anyway.
Anybody want £150 of touratech bracket which I no longer need

Des,
I was at the NEC Bike Show awhile back and was asking the Garmin guys at the stand what the major differences were between the new Zumo and the Quest2. Particularly when it came to the software and the computing power of the chip used. It turns out that the Zumo uses the same software ie mapping software as the Quest2 but has a more powerful chip. Before you go and lose out on the exchange can't you get hold of a Zumo and program the route as you did in the Quest2 just to see if the routes come out the same ??? Would be an interesting comparison. They both use the same MapSource mapping info as well so I would assume they would come out with the same route. ???

I am down the road of trying to return my Quest 2 to GPS but they are less than helpful, you cannot speak to anybody unless you wish to pay 50p a min, so i am left playing e-mail tennis trying to return the item.
I can only get a partial refund as i have had the Quest 2 for 4 1/2 months and they are not even interested in the fact I have spent an extra £150 on extras for the motorcycle. So i am currently looking at being £200 out of pocket and no sat nav as i cannot afford the upgrade to a Zumo due to the expense of my quest 2.
Garmin have said they will take it and have a look but I think we all know that this as of yet has never fixed the problems on a Quest 2 although they did say " we are aware of issues with the Quest 2" but cannot give a refund or swap as they are not a retail outlet only a support centre.
Was nice when it worked but Looks im going to be using a Map- and Compass for a while thanks to the people at GPS I strongly recommend anybody getting anything use somebody else as they are no longer interested once they have your money.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more
