...they don't fit on the screen when using TomTom.

For example we have `pocketgpsworl_spee'[....], so you can't tell what speed camera the file is.

Could we rename this to '30mph_pocket'[...] or such like?

You can rename them, but then both files have to be re-named. For ever, or until you're fed up.;)

If you hold your finger on the name, the font size will reduce allowing you to see the complete text. Drag your finger off the edge of the screen, so as not to select, or to another entry.

Why??

Not being funny, but once you have them installed and your warn when near to distance is set, all you have to do is download the database and then override the original POI's. Not a lot of work really Wink

Sorry lupos0_1, I don't understand your answer.

What we mean is that a ) because of the very lonf filenames, with the specific bit at the far end, it is fiddly to see which file you are dealing with on screen; and b ) if we manually rename them (and the associated .bmps too) ourselves we have to re-do it for the ov2 files every month (and now maybe twice a month).

Must have the wrong end of the stick Embarassed

Just out of curiousity, why do you need to deal with these individual files?

I had this difficulty originally with the long filenames when trying to set up the correct warning sounds on Warn When Near.
However on upgrading to version 6.150 the bmp icon of the speed limit (speed zoned files) now appears at the start before the filename on my TT Go 500, so setting up the sounds on Warn When Near now is straightforward!

As bw2020 says, the fiddly bit comes when you are are using the full speed-zoned set of ~24 files, and are trying to assign different warning distances and sounds to each. On the TomTom screen, all 24 files show up exactly the same, unless you do the trick of holding your finger on each one and squinting around underneath to read the rest in a small font. We're just suggesting abreviating the "PocketGPSWorld" bit or putting the speed and type first on each name. I can imagine it wouldn't be such a problem on a PDA version.

Do I have my TT set up differently to everyone else I wonder?

When I go into the warn when near function as well as displaying the POI name in the list it also displays the associated bmp picture. So I can recognise instantly when I am dealing with the 30mph gatsos because the picture is of a 30 in a big red ring. So why do I need the rest of the name in that case?

I can confirm that it depends on which version of TomTom you're running. The icon turns out ok on v6ish but no good on v5ish.

However I think the speed part of the filename is obscured even on v6?

Nope that can't be the explanation since I am still using early version of TT5 (if it aint broke don't fix it principle). Icons showing good and clear on my list of POIs in the "warn when near" function.
