|
|
Hi all,
I have an iPaq 2490 running TT5 (5.2x). The other day a warning came up saying to turn the unit off due to a high temperature whilst using TT.
The battery was red hot!
This only happens when running TT.
I can use the unit playing MP3's all day with the mains charger plugged in with no problems.
Anyone got any ideas? There are no other programs running at the same time.
Thanks |

TomTom IS a processor hog. Not much you can do except dumping TomTom or downclocking the processor. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz
Surely suggesting to someone to dump Tomtom is a little harsh. After all, most of us have never had any overheating problems.
I hope that you were only having a ‘Bad Hair Day’. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Two of the main reasons TTN is so popular is a very good user interface and quite a few useful options, but it does eat up the battery and both my PDAs get very hot when running TomTom. I would dump TTN for that reason alone as soon as somebody comes up with something half as usable and with at least 50% more battery life. |

Mmmmmm.......
Dumping TT - I can think of better ways of wasting money!
Am I the only person with this problem though?
Never had a problem like this with my iPag 3970 |

Are you using an unbranded battery for your PDA? If so swap it for a genuine one immediately! If they get hot they can explode with devastating consequences. (You may have heard about the Dell Laptop battery problems recently in the news.)
I would recommend contacting HP customer support. The number is somewhere on their UK website. If it is within warranty you should be able to get them to look at it.
Another possibility is to get a genuine extended battery (expensive and it may render your cradle useless with the bulk on the back.) |
