Folks
Since 'Palexr' initiated me to the dutch site (& thx. to 'Palexr' for that), I have been going through the forums quiet religiously over there. Since I got all my initial troubles sorted out via this site, the least I can do is to contribute and share some things that are going quiet 'wow' on the dutch site, hopefully that knowledge may assist users here too.
I will be translating all the hacks 1-by-1 and in some period of time. Some hacks may already be known here and some may not be, so if moderator, or admin thinks, I am cluttering up the site,or not following rules ;-) please let me know and I shall stop.
Here's the 1st hack anyway:-
1) where :-"config\default.vis":
remove/comment out by [Label500m-3000m]:
in the place -- POI (from line 358) the line for petrolstations and
add in [Label0m-4300m] & in [Label4300m-30km]:
Code:
poi="Services.Petrol_Station", "", "label_poi", 9,"poi2",-1
effect:-The above hack will show petrol stations visible from 0 meters to 30 KM instead of the usual 500 meter & 3 KM and there will always be an icon of the petrol station instead of a boring blue dot which may be missed if not really focussed upon.
2) one may replace the default 'audio\!alert5.wav' with something more soothing [ for camera alerts ]
3) in ui_mio\func_tracking_320_240.ui
comment out line 16.
effect:- in advanced settings , the hidden button "route option" will be no longer hidden.
I personally haven't tried these & wouldn't recommend to anyone, so it's all upto you at the end.
as mentioned, if this is not with the rules of this forum, just one line would be enough.

as promised, here I was with more , but after writing all that stuff, It keeps throwing up :-
"The html tags you attempted to use are not allowed
[ Go Back ]"
this was an excercise in frustration, and in my opinion, this security feature is more detrimental than supportive.
or at least it should show(parse) the lines, where it thinks it has gone wrong.
anyway , if anyone's interested in rest of the hack codes:-
pl. mail me at :-
erg_handig@mail.com
and then someone can cleverly put it all back here without me trying to find out what went wrong in 297 lines of text I wrote |

Hi MioMio
Thanks for the email. The problems with posting this are the left and right angle brackets (lesser than and greater than symbols).
The only way is to replace them with another set of brackets and include a note similar to this:
(NB '{' should be a left angle bracket and '}' should be a right angle bracket)
Regards

I don't think it's as easy as mentioned.
there were others who tried and failed.
and including one of such mails I rec'd.

Thanks for the hacks.
Tried to post them to the forum but, like you, got the error message
about HTML tags even when disabling HTML on the post. Have you no web
space that you can put it on then people could access the information
directly?

so here's a poor man's workaround:-

** PS:- if other sites are accepting this without complaining, dunno what's biting this forum site ? |

There's some more come in @ the same place.
& this one's about :-
there is this option in the Igo manual "calculation algorithm" {Fast & Optimal}. This is in the chapter 5.4.1 , 'Igo manual'.
This function will influence the speed & sensitivity during all route calculations.[ under settings / "route" , one can now make use of this new algorithm ] |

Hi,
doesn't work on my 510E. After the Miomap loading screen it just resets the device. _________________ Reg |

sorry pal, maybe then its only 710 specific.
It's up & running on my 710, so I can vouch for that & I'm pretty sure it will be up & running on other 710s too. |

Hmm .... you could be right. Shame if it won't work on the 510.
I might try applying the changes one function at a time if that's possible. _________________ Reg |

Thanks miomio. I will need it
Right ................ I've coded in the changes for Advanced Settings/Cockpit Settings. I've compared my new file with the one you supplied and they look the same but .............. on the Cockpit Settings page the sliders for Fields A, B and C of Cockpit Screen Layout are overwriting the new check boxes. The Cockpit Screen Layout is at the bottom of the page with no sliders. _________________ Reg |

Miomio,
I've got the Advanced Cockpit Settings working now.
I hope you don't mind me asking but are you sure that the copy of DATA.ZIP that you have made available is the working version? _________________ Reg |

Miomio,
Can't get Advanced Route Options to work. Actually I can't find this option on my 510. Is this a 710 thing only? Oddly enough the code is there but altering it is giving me an error on loading.
Oh well, it's interesting to find out how this code works if nothing else :D _________________ Reg |

I've now managed to get all of miomio's hacks working on my 510e (Miomap 3.0). _________________ Reg |
