just a question if anyone can answer please.
I have software version 5.202 and map version 568 on my tom tom go 300,if i were to purchase the new gb maps on sd card would i have to download any new software to enable this map to work and would scaredy cats voices still work on it?Thanks in advance. |

yes, you need version 6.x
Don't know, ScaredyCat probably needs to recompile his apps with SDK6

Does he actually NEED version 6.x to run the newer map software ? I don't think he does as the application software is independent of the map and should therefore be able to display and run whatever map is on the device. AFAIK, you can still run the old 5.202 application but upgrade the map. In this way the Scaredy Cats stuff should still work fine.
If the maps are being supplied on SD from Tom Tom, it will probably come as a ready to plug in card with new software too, but I believe you could copy the new map software from the new card to your old one.
Perhaps someone could confirm this ?

The application software is independent from the maps, but the maps are not independent of the application.
If bought on SD, then it comes with the correct application. The new 2006 maps (v6.5) are not recognized by application v5.x. That's why you need app 6.x. However, the 2005 maps are recognized by app 6.x.

| Your old voice should work on v6xx firmware. I have a TT 510 and all my old voice's from my TT One work. |

| doesn,t software 6.15 come on the new sd card for the new maps i thought it did! i,ve now downloaded 6.15 on to my tom tom previously 5.202 and it just locks it up on the splash screen and i can,t turn it off,have to wait for the battery to run down then back up to it,s original.I,ve tried it 3 times and it just keeps locking up! |

Have you tried a pin-in-hole Reset?
Another thing to try. Move the SdkRegistry Folder to the PC, or Rename it, as that could be causing the problem.
Failing that upgrade to 5.440 before doing the 6.150.
