Posted: Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:23 pm Post subject: TTG 510 Activation issues after copying to 2GB SD Card HELP! |
|
|
Hi all.
I had a 710 but had so much problems with it i decided to send it back, save some money and just get the TTG 510 as i didn't need the EU maps.
As always i copied my original SD card and put the data onto my 2GB Sandisk SD Card without any issues at all. Worked 100% (always like to keep the original just in case)
I received my TTG 510 this morning, formatted my 2GB SD card and copied the original 510 SD Card in the usual way onto my 2 SD Card without any issues.
When i place the 2GB card into the TTG 510 it runs through the sequence of activation.
The problem is that it wants me to activate the maps which i do using the correct information as registered etc but always says "sorry this is not the correct activation code"
I have checked and all the numbers and digits are correct. The original SD Card works fine.
Also this same 2 GB SD card worked fine in the 710.
Any help please?

make sure your copying the 510 data to the cardand not the old 710. also make sure that system and hidden files and folders are visible when your copying the files. |

Already done that.
Formatted 2GB card then unhid all files etc using tools/folder options etc etc.
Copied everything from 1 to the other. Also tried on 2 other SD cards.
Thanks anyway _________________ Regards

It's a tool provided by TT Support, to fix an issue with the flash memory on the GO510/710.
Install it to your 510, reboot, next you will probably prompted for activation code. But now it will succeed.
Best to run the tool on your original SD as well (it clears a long list of .mac files on your SD card. These .mac files are blocking you from entering a new activation code, which is stored in a .mac file) _________________ GO1005

Thanks.
All sorted now. Well that part is.
Problem i have (don't know if its normal) now is when i connect to PC and TT Home kicks in. I get an update window with lots of speed cams in from all over Europe.
At the moment i click cancel.
Can i stop this doing this?
It only seems to have done this since i did a hard reset.

Quote: | when i connect to PC and TT Home kicks in. I get an update window with lots of speed cams in from all over Europe | This is because TT now bundle all the camera updates in one. I think you are stuck with them in the "Download your updates" screen but if you let them download and then clear the tick boxes, it will not try to download the same ones again (until they are updated). If you delete them I think it does download them all again.
Bit of a pain, especially as you can't use them unless you have the maps they relate to. _________________ Colin

Hi ColinS
Do you also have this problem with the 510?
Or is it just since i did a reset?

Yes I have the problem too. It is nothing to do with your reset, just an unhappy coincidence. _________________ Colin

Hi CloinS
Thanks again. I guess we may be looking at another update from TomTom then to sort this issue.
I guess its a TT Home issue that needs to be addressed.
Cheers _________________ Regards
