Some of you may have seen this already from Stefan's post, but Stefan Wedlin had a few issues when he was trying to use an extension cable to power his Leadtek where the wires were crossed over and it blew his TomTom GPS Receiver. Stefan thought it was an ideal opportunity to take a look inside the receiver whilst purchasing a new one, and posted some photos to us. This is the TomTom GPS Receiver (Leadtek 9533).

Does anybody know if you can simply replace the 9533 that TomTom supply with a Leadtek 9532?

Alternatively does anybody know where I can find out the "PIN Assignment of Connector" for the 9533?

I'm wanting to plug a 9532 straight into a TomTom car holder via RJ11 just like I currently do with the 9533 TomTom supplied. However I've been strongly advised to check the PIN Assignment is the same.

It makes you wonder with so few components inside how much it costs to make one compared to the selling price. I bet there is a horrendous markup.

SimonK: You sure can! That's what I did after I "fried" my Tomtom 9533 receiver. The greenish GPS receiver on the left of the Tomtom receiver in the last picture (in the article mentioned above) is the Leadtek 9532.
