I have never seen a POI file for speed limits for any unit, it would be too large a task to pull together, let alone keeping it upto date, there are speed camera POI files though available from this site. Also the use of camera warning equipment is not legal in Ireland IIRC - Mike |

SCDB have a list of speed cameras for Ireland - I think it is for all units. You can find them at http://www.scdb.info/en/software-karte/ There are only 17 cameras and 2 redlight cameras listed all in and around Dublin, M1 and N3 so I'm not sure if the download is worth it. I have tried to use ASH10's and CBROM's programmes but they appear to only like the speedcamera data base available on this site. I have tried POI Handler http://www.poihandler.com/ but they had even less speed cameras. POI Handler do have some free downloads for some other POI's. I didn't know that having speed cameras loaded on your navigation system was not legal in Ireland - so I suppose you will just have to take your chances. :D |

Have any of you guys found any other useful POI for Ireland? I downloaded the POI files from MaFt's site, but I think it might only be mainland UK and not NI (if anyone could confirm this, I'd greatly appreciate it!)
Cheers,

Try www.poihandler.com
They have quite a few for Ireland on there. _________________ Steve

You may want to check out this site as it gives some information about safety cameras up North.
http://www.psni.police.uk/index/safetycameras/pg_camera_locations.htm
Speed Camera Database http://www.scdb.info/en/software-karte/ has about 9 cameras listed for NI including the new ones around Newry but you have to download the UK file to find them. You can view them on the map on their website and they are numbered so are relatively easy to find in the database. If you ever travel down south you can download the cameras in and around Dublin. |

I found loads of speed cameras in a cvs file from http://map-monkey.co.uk (in the downloads section)
Anyone know how to convert it to a format compatible for "POI Loader" for the Garmin? |

This file is already in csv format which can be uploaded to your Garmin unit using POI loader. There appear to be about 1000 safety cameras in this file but most would appear to be the UK. There are much better data bases available on this site and others but like most things in life nothing good is free. |

No, you can't import this file as its not in a compatible format according to the POILoader from Garmin |

The file from the site is a "Microsoft Excel Comma Seperated Values File". CSV files are compatible with POI Loader. Once you have downloaded the file you need to a "save as" a .csv file. If you save in the default excel .xls format it will not work with POI Loader. |
