I have just reloaded tom tom into my pda, lost after repair, and am having trouble with the warning for speed cameras, go to manage poi and set everything up, distance and warning noise, but when I'm actually being navigated there is no warning sound, am i missing something.
Also the original problem is still with me, screen goes off for no reason, so it will be going back again for repair, s othey will probably lose all the info again for me, but at least I will know how to reload it this time.

For the sounds have you configured the "Warn When Near POI" option in Change preferences/ Manage POI - this must be done for each POI (Speed Camera) you have loaded, when setting this option press the "Test" button, does the device emmit any sound? - Also if you have selected to "Warn Only if POI on Route" you MUST have a route selected in order to obtain a warning, no route = No Warning if this box was checked.

For the screen turning off I have a few ideas, IIRC you are using an Ipaq-4150 - I don't know for sure if this first item is applicable but its worth checking:
Start Programs look for "Dockware", if it is present select it, then tap and hold the screen and deselect the "Start Automatically" check box, this will disable the stupid screen saver (but I think this is only applicable to the 4700 units).
Next try the Start Settings, System Tab, Backlight, brightness tab make sure Automatic tick box is NOT selected. Then go to the "AC Power" Tab make sure "Turn off back light if device is not used for" check box is NOT selected.
Finally is your device being powered by the car charger cable? if not I sugest you get one and try this as TomTom will consume your battery power very quickly if the PDA is not powered when in use for long periods. - Mike

Have done all the "manage pi" bit, but when I return to look at it again all the symbols have gone from each camera section, basically it's not saving my settings.
Have altered all the screen settings like you say, will see if this works next time I use the thing, and yes I do use a car charger, pda doesn't last very long without one.

Thanx, Steve.

As you are loosing the settings this could be down to the write protect switch on the memory card, make sure its NOT set to lock.

If the above wasn't the fix (and I suspect you have tried that), put the memory card in a card reader, using Windows Explorer on the PC open the GB map folder and look for a file Great_Britain_Plus-Map.cfg (if you don't have the Plus map loaded it will be slightly differently named but will still carry the .cfg extension).

Right click the file and select "Properties" from the pop-up box, untick the "Read Only" box now configure Home/ POI Warnings etc and the unit will remember them.

As a tip once you get it configured as you want, on the PDA use File Explorer to find the .cfg file tap and hold select "Copy" then go to another folder (create one if need be) and select paste - keep a secure copy of this file then if the device looses its settings its a matter of seconds to set it all up again - Mike

DOH!!! Had the memory card on "lock"
How do I get rid of the lagal notice page every time I go onto navigation.
Also, the pda seems to hang a lot, have to do the "soft" restart thing, but this seems to change some of my settings, is this normal.

Now you have the lock switch turned off you should only get the legal screen once (assuming you are in the UK, its a different story for those in the USA - apparantly).
As for the PDA hanging, this is not normal, what software have you got loaded to the device? as something must be causing this to crash? - Mike

Still coming up every time, as for software, just the basic windows stuff really, but they did say that they upgraded the software when it went for repair, when i switched it on to check, it hung up.
