It should equate to "Canon Street" (and I am 100% sure this street is canon street) but the tomtom spits out "Bush Lane"
| Interestingly software version 5.21 map version 632 (TTN) does return Cannon Street. | BUT, version 5.410 map version v605 (TTOne) gives Bush Lane, so this isn't a bug that has been introduced by the x10 series. _________________ Jock

Ok guys iv just bought a tom tom and i have the version 5.450
does anyone know when these new maps will come out coz im getting really onnoyed that iv just spent £250 on a tom tom one and it doesnt have a road (arbroath - dundee) layout thats 1 year old.
Does anyone know how much these discounted maps will be and where will i get it?
Iv went to updates on TT home but its out of service....... TT staff must be having a break and rolling about in the money they make shouting MUhahahahahah......
I have information on how long it takes, as i sent an email to Navman complaining about this here was the reply folks :
Please also take into consideration the time taken to update maps:
1) A customer reports a fault to us. We then report this to Tele Atlas, who are our map data provider.
2) Tele Atlas sends an engineer on the field (it takes time to free someone and send him on the field)
3) The engineer takes measures to gather the required information (couple of days - weeks, depending on the extent of the issue)
4) The engineer enters the changes in the database (Time consuming process)
5) When enough data has been updated, Tele Atlas releases a map update (1-3 updates a year)
6) Navman buys the raw map data
7) Navman reformats the map data to make it compatible with its software (very fastidious)
8) Navman releases the updated maps
9) The distributor buys the maps
10) The retailer buys the maps
11) The product stays in stock until a customer buys it.
12) The customer has the product
In the majority of systems a year - 18 months can pass between a new road being added, and an update being made available.
18 months for a new road to be updated PHEWwwww, there raking in the money and some lousy field agent is sitting with a cuppy in his hand just thinking about measuring a road.
I think TT should get a kick up the AR** and get there priorities in order or peolpe will start taking there systems back to the shops one shop for example is Argos who say "excluded from 16 day money back", they have you buy the balls !! |

Also realize that new roads are planned years in advance.. just because a road has only been open for a year doesn't mean that TeleAtlas didn't have the ability to know about it beforehand.
I'm sure teleatlas are licensees to the ordnance survey data so already know where the road will be just like the printed map vendors do (they print 'planned' roads on their maps so they're not out of date when the road is actually built).
I'm told Navteq are better at this but TT have chosen TeleAtlas so we're stuck with them. |

Don't blame the mapping companies for not putting roads on in advance. You would be even more anniyed if you were sent along a road that didn't exist!
Anyway, we don't always build the road where it was originally intended to be ;-) _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

There are no new maps yet. That's what we're all waiting for.
The ones on sale are the same (and in some cases even older) as the ones sold with the units. |

Realize that TT and mapping companies are not one and the same.
You can take back your TT system, but if you then buy a Navman or Garmin, you will have the same process of outdated maps being updated after 18 months
(in reality it is about 3-6 months between cut-off date of collecting new road info and teh actual map data release (from TeleAtlas/Navteq), then 3-6 months for actual TomTom map release. All this depends on when updates are planned. On average it is about 9 months) _________________ GO1005
