I'm not sure we have all the information necessary to answer the question. You have, I presume, a TomTom Car Kit (though you may be talking about the cradle included with the Navigator full pack). What GPS are you using?

I'm unclear as to your query, the TomTom Carkit won't be able to use an external antenna, external antennas ase for connecting to GPS receivers? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I think AirRover might be referring to an antenna for the TomTom bluetooth receiver. |

If we are talking about the TomTom Bluetooth GPSR then the external antenna socket on it is MC Female which is a fairly common mini jack, definitely not non-standard! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Dear all
Sorry, I should have made myself clearer - The assumption made that I wish to connect an external antenna to a bluetooth TomTom receiver when in the cradle that comes with the full kit IS CORRECT.
I drive a Landrover Discovery and find that because of the windscreen being near vertical and providing only a limited view of the sky, I drop to less that 3 satalites on occasions - usually in a built up area, just when it is needed most !!!
Thanks once again |

The best bet is to get a re-radiating antenna. It goes outside the car, a small rubber covered rod about 8cm long and 3mm in diameter on the end of the cable goes near your GPS unit and it connects to your cigar lighter or 12V supply.
They work well and are really come into their own if you have more than one GPS device in your car. |

Thanks for the advice, it looks as though I will have to go with the Re-Rad. Seems strange that a socket is provided but no compatible antennas are available from TT.
Thanks to all once again
