|
:D
I was so fed up with my 910 mount wabble and droop that when TomTom sent me an ineffective replacement I set about the old mount with a drill and a 6mm tap and think I have got a workable solution that fixes the droop and a certain amount of wobble.
I dismantled the mount which involved clipping off the cover and removing the screen tightening pin (for want of a better description) then drilled 2 5mm holes through the rubber ball socket. I then threaded the holes and made some short screws to fit. Now once aligned on the screen I just tighten the screws and "bingo" no droop.
Here are some photos
Sorry for using the robosavvy forum to host the pictures but I couldn't fathom how to upload the images here.

Thanks for the interesting "mod"
You cannot upload pictures to our site, so the way you did it is the only right way. _________________ Lutz

Just a thought but could it be that a certain of amount of wobble is preferable to a rock steady mount ?
A bit of movement or wobble will act as a sort of shock absorber while if the mounting is too firm or solid all shocks will be transmitted through to the GPS, which may not be good for future reliability. |

yes and no. The ideal solution is in sync with the movement of your eyes, so that you get an illusion of a steady position relative to yours.
So it should be as wobbly as your seat cusion vertically, but should be sturdy horizontally. _________________ Lutz

Now I'm imagining some amazing Heath Robinson contraption to synchronise screen with eye position!

because of this stupid mount i can no longer play MP3's on my 910 as it wobbles around far to much and wont connect properly....i have a new mount on order from TomTom but how long before that one gives up the ghost. Such a great piece of kit with such a mount _________________ Garmin xt mobile
