Been reading up on installing safety camera database on tom tom I have an ipaq 6515 with tom tom nav 5 on a 128 mb SD storage disc in the instructions it says make a backup before proceeding, my question is,
is sprite backup software the only way to make a backup of nav 5
I have tried using a card reader on my pc to send the tom tom files to my RW drive and then tried writing them to a CD but the files are obviously copy protected in some way because the wizard says ther is no disc in the drive.
Sorry if this is a bit long winded but in short whats the best method for making a backup. _________________ regards tradesman

Once you have the memory card you need to copy its entire contents to your PC's hard drive, then you can copy these files/ folders to a CD etc.
Create a new folder on the PC (put it somewhere where you can find it afterwards)
Insert the Memory Card into a card reader connected to the PC, if you don't have one of these I would sugest you purchase one, they do make file transfer much easier and faster.
Go to Windows Explorer and in the Tools/ folder options select the View tab, Make sure Show hidden files and folders is checked, make sure Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Go to the memory card in file explorer select all the files/ folder, right click and select "Copy".
Go to your newly created back-up folder, right click and select "Paste"
When the file transfer is complete you have your back up on the PC
Sprite will back up your device and should be used to create a self executing back-up file, it will only restore the device NOT the memory card, it is well worth using though
To create a self executing back up file in Sprite select Options/ Switch to Advanced Mode
Then from options select Back-up options/ General Back-up options on the page that opens make sure you have the check box selected for "Create Self Executing Back-up Files"
I would also sugest you de-select the option for Battery monitoring within this software, I found it kept waking the unit up, if you then catch a button etc it can cause strange things (phone calls etc) - Mike
