|
|
Hi there, new to sat navs and this site so bear with me. Just got a garmin i3 for the money its great.
My question
In settings under system it has an option to choose battery type alkaline or NIMH. Anyone know what difference that makes. I'm using rechargeable NIMH so set it accordingly but i was wondering when I connect it to the pc or cigarette lighter via the usb lead does that mean it will slowly re-charge the batteries if set to NIMH ?
Thanks steve |

No, sadly rechargeables wont be charged whilst in the unit.
I think the different setting is used to determine when the respective batteries are getting low, as rechargeables are 1.2 volts, verses 1.5 volts for alkalines.
HTH

That makes sense now, ok worth a try cheers.
I've updated the units software, downloaded the speed camera and general poi. Anything else worth doing ? If not I will just enjoy and hopefully never get lost again.
thx steve |

Suggest you "downgrade" to ver 2.7
Have a look through to see why. |

Don't call him "surely", and it most definitely doesn't charge them.
There's been pictures posted on t'internet of the i3's internals, once dismantled, and there's no charging circuit. |

You can change the 'splash' screen to something more interesting. The splash screen is the boring blue garmin screen that comes up when you first turn on the unit.
