|

I've purchased an external antenna from Maplin (the £9.99 one that everyone on this forum seems to suggest). Where's the best place in the car to locate it?
The reason I purchased the antenna is simply that my new i3 (with firmware 2.7 installed by me) seems to lose the satellites a bit too often, and I'm hoping the antenna will help. I don't have a tinted windscreen or any of the traditional reasons why an external antenna is required. |

its been suggested that the right hand side on the vehicle is the best due to the fact that the antenna is furthest away from any buildings on your left....placed outside or on the dash is your preference, both should work well ...experiment first and see.. _________________ *************************** |

You can stick it to the roof 'cos its magnetic, feed the cable up behind the door seal or the sunroof surround. |

I ended up putting it on the dash (held in place by blue-tak), and that seems to work well enough for me. It doesn't look great - there's a bundle of rolled up cable sitting there (the external antenna comes with a 5m cable), but it works well enough.
Thanks to those who replied. |

It would be a good idea to remove the antenna each time you take the i3 out of the car when parked, otherwise some friendly character may break a window to try to find the i3 which may be hiding in the glove compartment...
A bit of a pain, really.
