Its really frustrating to have everything as it should be except "adress search.
Maybe I"ll send you my card and you can do it for me !!!! Laughing Out Loud

You have been asked this question twice and I cannot see your answer!

Quote:
are you running the latest version of Mapsource? Mine is 6.11.3.

You said you cannot save a .gdb file
Did you follow the link in post 2 to the old method of getting the index?

Yes im running ver 6.11.3
Everything seems to work except when i do an address search its only showing cities in two States.
Ive watched very closely and when its building the index it gets to 69% then starts building map files before transferring to the i3.
Could it be something to do with the fact im using a 1gb card?
cant think of any other reason.
i3 has ver 2.7

What is the total size of the Maptiles before you do anything?

How big is the map your trying to bulid?
Sendmap can only deal with 512 MB max, but as long as the map is less than 512mb then it should be ok.
When mapsources build the index It gets to 100% and then just starts to build the maps and it is at this point that it cancels.

I would suggest that you try it wil a couple of small area's first and try one in America and the other in Canada.( i presume you have Metroguide North America) If it works then when you address search it should ask the question America or Canada and if it does than the index has worked!

Then try and increase the size of the area's you load. Don't try and load everthing, onlt the area's you will be visiting out there.

Total map size is about 250mb.
Im using Metroguide USA ver5 with the updates.
Index builds to 69% then starts building maps, then transfers.

The index gets to 100 % on mine before it cancels. Maybe there is also a limit on the metrowiz utility. Try my sugestion of two small maps in America and Canada and report back your results!

The index build is 69% of the total job and the building map sets is the remaining 31%!!

Sorry! I should have doubled checked. Mine gets to 70 % before cancelling. I was getting confused with sendmap which gets to 100%

This is getting weirder by the minute.
I can now upload index file/maps without a problem.
However when i do an address search i get a completely different list to the index file i created.
The list on the garmin bears no relation to the one ive created and downloaded !!!.
I made a small maptile of 50mb comprising of places in texas, but my city list under address search on the unit is New Jersey.
How can that possibly be?

Idea I may have the solution (?)

If you go on the Garmin website related to i3 software update, http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=995 , between version 2.7 and 2.9 the following change has been done:

Improved address searches to allow for selecting which map to search on when multiple maps are available.
I wonder if upgrading to 2.9 or upper will not solve the problem of searching address in the USA Smile
Worth a try....

Missed this one also (change from 2.7 to 2.9):
- Improved city searches to search across all available maps.

When selecting just two tiles, only the cities on the top right tile are shown in the address section?
