Hi all.
I just upgraded from my TTG 300 to a new TTG 710.
Only 1 problem and want to let everyone else know and see if anyone has a solution.
When i use the TTG 300 i have a rubbish signal due to my windscreen. So i spent £50 on an external antenna for it.
Now i have the TTG 710. Still a very poor signal due to my windscreen so tried to use my original TT antenna and guess what?
The fittings for the antenna are not the same so i am unable to use my TTG 710.
Why not keep things standard. When you pay around £450 for an item and you can't use it. I think TomTom are taking the mick (was going to say something a little stronger then).
Anyone know where i can get an adaptor or something please?
Thanks _________________ Regards

The 510/710/910 & the One uses the sirfstar III reciever which is not compatible with the older models. These are much more sensitive to picking up sats so your 710 should not require an external antenna even with the type of windscreen you have. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver

The 910 interface is changed in such a way that nothing that went before will work. It's even more devious than just changing the pinouts - the dock has a custom chip on it that does part of the processing... if you don't have that chip you can't make a dock (the pins on the connector seem to be all data apart from the audio & serial I/O - probably i2c to the on-dock processor. On the one hand it lets them do things like ipod connectors without having to add pins.. as a side effect it means a clone x10 dock is somewhere between very difficult and impossible). |
