|
|
Hi - I've taken out a 12 month subscription with TT for safety camera location updates. As far as I know I've been updating correctly but as I drive in and around Plymouth I notice speed cameras that are not on my TT, in fact - there's one down the road at the entrance to Foxwood gardens but It's never shown up on my TT.
Is this simply a case of no-one reporting their position/whereabouts? should they be on my TT? Ohhhhh - so many questions with this pesky GPS malarky
Any info would be much appreciated _________________ There are 10 types of people who understand binary, those who do, and those who don't. |

If it's a fixed camera then report its exact position to PGPS and get life membership for free. |

Just to add - I check for updates once a day on TomTom home and it keeps telling me there are no fixed camera updates available.
As a side note - in my POI's, sometimes there's mobile cameras in there, sometimes there not unless I update - now, by there very nature, ie, "mobile" cameras, do they need to be updated daily or before you go out beacuse of possible day-to-day different locations? Someone tell me I'm getting warm!! _________________ There are 10 types of people who understand binary, those who do, and those who don't. |

Don't count on it.
I reported one, when it finally appeared, i didn't get a lifetime membership, ok someone must have beaten me to it.
I went past the said camera last week and it is out of position by 200 yards, as i reported it.
Seems strange that someone else reported it in exactly the same position as i did. |

There seems to be some confusion here. As far as I understand it, Pasoti has taken out his subscription with TomTom, for the TomTom speed cameras. It has been mentioned previously that the TomTom version does lack accuracy (though I haven't tried it myself!).
Everyone else is referring to the PocketGPS speed camera database, which is a different beast altogether. This one is generally more accurate, as it is kept up-to-date by the likes of you & me reporting new sightings (use the "speed cameras" link at the top of this page). |

As far as I know, there are no databases that can give the daily location of mobile cameras. What you get is a list of locations where mobile cameras have been seen operating. In Bedfordshire there are dozens of locations, but only a handful of vans, so it's pot luck whether or not a van is operational at any particular site.
I had problems with the Tom Tom database, because it seemed to be missing several cameras. The PGPS database is cheaper, and more accurate, because there is an incentive to report new cameras, changed cameras or deleted cameras, in order to win free membership. Even so, it is only updated once a month, so a new camera could be up for a while before it appears on the database.

Thanks for that Tom - I thought it would be along those lines re mobile cameras.
As someone mentioned earlier, yes - I am using both TT's and PGPS worlds camera database - I'm new at this game and I suppose I'm getting a carried away and want every camera in the world on my TT - not that I drive fast you understand . Just geting a bit too excited with my new toy _________________ There are 10 types of people who understand binary, those who do, and those who don't. |

Throw the TT one in the garbage, This one is not bulletproof but it is the one that will probably keep you clean. |

Hi,
I had subscribed to TT Safety Cameras but found it not to be as good as Pocket GPS so I complained and received a full refund.
