Today i received my new mount from Holland. Ripped into the package with baited breath. There's my new mount, great, but not the new type just a replacement old style mount. So after a few days i suppose it will lose the horn again and stsrt drooping. |

Is there a new type of mount available then? I have had a replacement and it is the original type and yes, it droops again.

gogo910 are you sure its not a new style mount, mine is stuck on its way but should have it tomorrow. As i posted in another thread the only thing that they seem to have changed is putting a lip on the unit to make it easier to dock and undock.
Dont think they have done anything to stop the dropping. |

Yes I got my replacement today and it is the new type.
The lip appears to be there to stop the unit from bouncing on the mount, thus avoiding disconnections but I find it more difficult to dock and undock. In any case it seems to be a two handed job.
Great service from TomTom though, no questions asked. _________________ Colin

It is an old style mount.
It hasn't drooped yet but it bounces and vibrates like you wouldn't believe. |

got my new one today and its a new designed one, cant see any difference to the ball and backet apart from the extra lip, so doubt very much if it will solve the drooping problem but time will tell, plus will wait a few weeks and get a second one as a spare :D |

My new (and first!) TomTom 910 arrived today. We used it all day today when travelling around looking at some houses, and the darn thing kept flickering between charging and not charging (green light on, green light off, etc). It eventually always settles on the 'green light off'. I found that if I pushed gently on the top of the unit it owuld start charging again, only to stop a few mins later at the next bit of slightly uneven road surface.
Can anyone post some pics up of the 'new' mount and the 'old' mount as I have no idea which one I have (would hope it's the new one, but you never know!)
Thanks |

Have you actually connected the unit correctly? - it takes a considerable push down with the unit to lock the device into the mount, there will be two clicks as it locks home on to the car dock (you only get a single click on the home dock, as the unit doesn't lock to it) - Mike |

Well, after speaking to TomTom on the phone today, they told me to go back to Dixons / Currys where I bought the unit (Dixons on-line). Brought it back to my local Currys today who were happy to swap it for a fresh box with no problems. BUT, the new package had the old style mount (I had received a new style mount with my online order) ! I spent some time explaining that I want one with the new style mount, but they told me there was no way they were going to open all the 910 boxes to see if any of the mounts were new style. Fair enough.
So, have taken the new package away with me. At least the unit now stays on charge (so far) when I am driving, but the ball joint does seem much more mobile, even when on double-lock.
TomTom have replied to my email to support today, and they are sending me a new style mount, so fingers crossed all will be well now |

I wouldnt count your egg just yet ... having tried and tested the new mount it does seem to sit in better thanks to the lip and the ball joint hasnt drooped (but then again it isnt hot anymoe like it used to be) but the mount is , i feel, still too small to hold such a heavy unit like the 910. Its constantly shaking like mad when on the road and Ive just really become sick of it because it does your eyes in !
They need to bring out a brand new mount, not a revised one, that is big enough (like the old x00 series mounts) to hold the unit well. |
